    Yes, it can be done.

I've loaded a couple loads of them, they have a honeycomb cardboard base and they put them on rubberized matting in reefers at the place near Alsip, IL.

We have been running back from Chi without brokered back hauls lately, I come back empty or light most of the time. Truckers are fighting over the cheap freight out and it's more important to get the front haul out instead of waiting for trailers.

I also hauled a load years ago out of North Carolina on pallets, but that was in a van. It was a different grade of paper in smaller rolls than the usual floor loads. I hauled a couple of those, too.

yeah, i know that, just alot of brokers and shippers seem as if they only want them in 10 year old or less dry vans... I hated hauling Paper Rolls, i live near paper plants and was looking at the rates on a load board and even for going up north that stuff was cheap...

Take a look at some of the illustrious companies thatyou see in those goofy paper plants and you see why rates are in the toilet.

I find it interesting that the weird freight that is a PITA to haul is often the cheapest. Paper rolls, clementines, deliveries to Wakefern, etc.

Hawk if it makes you feel better I was happy just to be able to squeeze a 34 in this weekend. Another week/weekend that was gonna work on paper ALMOST went down the tubes again this week. UL in Austin, MN Thursday, DH to Sheldon, get a Dakota City to Reading deliver 0900 Monday. I get down to DC that evening, and 1141's lights were all screwed up, too bad to run with. ######! So back to the yard I went to have them fixed Friday morning, figuring if I leave by 1000 CST I can still get the restart in. Well despite the whole trailer shop being on it at one point, it was 1230 til I left. But I made it!

Bumpass, eh? I thought you were pulling one over on us until I googled it.

They do pay well. Instead of by the mile, we're paid percentage of revenue. While that does mean that when we haul some cheaper stuff it pays a little less, most of our stuff pays better by percentage than it would by the mile. It works out to between .40 and .42 per mile. And, just for reference, during the 6 months July thru December, I ran 69,700 miles.

Hometime is, in fact, what they say. I get home every 8 or 9 days. A lot of guys get home every 6 or 7. They tend to run you out of hours and then you get a restart at home. This isn't to say that you have to come out right after 34, though. I generally do a short 34 hometime one time, and the next time take 48 hours+.

There are a couple of different "lanes" Many of the guys out of Waynesboro run in the Northeast, which they can tell you about better. I run (most often) from the midwest to the east and then back. Load up in Minnesota, Iowa or Nebraska, roll on to Virginia or New York, sometimes PA, then load a backhaul to the midwest, and maybe do another short load, then home.

I go to the pac NW from time to time, but living in VA as you do, you'd definitely need to stay out for 2 or 3 weeks in order to do that.

I'll quit now and let some of the older hands chime in.

Just about to leave the house and load up.

Has anyone else been having trouble with customer service? It seems like the last couple months I have not been getting appointment times relayed to me,example I show up at my stop in California today and they tell me it's scheduled for 6 am tomorrow...well thats news to me,getting tired of this though.

When I do those Reynolds loads I check with Cory to verify the appointment times when I'm enroute. Did you have to go up to Hasperia to park or did you find a hidey hole in San Bernadino?
