Yeah , because they have to . FMCSA put the fear of God in them but they are still run by the same people that ran such a raggedy operation they got fined over $50,000 . I don't know of any other carrier that was fined that much and was allowed to stay in business .

RickG, I don't know why you have such a bad taste about Crete. They did have an unfortunate accident, which every company of any size has had. I just don't understand why you are so relentless on Crete when many other companies have done the same or more. No driver can be forced to drive a truck when they are not legally able to do so, only the driver can violate the laws.
The thing is, Crete has stepped up and changed, because they had to. Many companies in the same situation have just changed the name of the company and continued as before until they screwed up again.
I understand you really don't like Crete, just wish you could divulge the real reason you are so hard on Crete and not on the many other accidents like this that have occured with other companies in the many years since this has happened.
    Just wondering.

To me, Crete is just like any other junk OTR company. The high turnover, practical miles and the fact that they are always advertising for drivers. That only scratches the surface.

Wow, that really takes the cake. Somebody who has never driven for Crete or even OTR at all can automatically tell what are the junk companies. Let me guess, you can diagnose sick people from photos, too?

And just so you know, there are many reasons where you can refuse a load, I did so many times when I was with Crete. If you had any OTR experience, you would know that. And if dispatch had ever tried to force me to do something illegal, my first phone call would have been to the safety department. Heck, twice I asked them where they did they want me to leave their truck.

Oh, and seeing as how you are all knowing, who do you have winning the Super Bowl next year? :biggrin_25526:

I have no idea who will win. I do have an idea on what I consider a junk OTR company.

No I don't get paid any type of mileage. I get paid by the hour. The only true way to be paid for all of your time. With all of the technology out there, there is no reason that a driver should not be paid for all of the miles they drove. And I do 342 miles each and every day.

I work for Univars USA. We have not hired a driver since 2006 at my facility. That speaks volumes.

And just why is that? You do realize that Crete has a few thousand drivers, right? There will naturally be turnover. When I went through orientation in '99, we were told that the turnover rate was 30%. There were about 2500 drivers at the time so that would mean that they would need to replace 750 drivers in a year. How do you propose they get that number of drivers without advertising?

My own fault, I was terminated for getting 4 tickets in a year which is an automatic license suspension of 3 months in Wyoming. Believe me, I would probably still be there otherwise, making 65k a year was pretty nice.
