Well, I gave myself a week to cool down. I was pretty upset when I got a phone call last week from Mike Millis himself. After getting called at the beginning of February and told Millis wanted me to come to MTI, went and got my physical and sent in all all paperwork and deposit for class, good old Mikey calls me last Tuesday and tells me they just can't take me on right now.

He gives me the same old song and dance about how well the company is doing and they don't really need anyone right now and then turns around and contradicts himself saying they are taking better applicants right now, blah blah blah.

He caught me off guard with that phone call so I was totally at a loss for words. So if anyone meets Mr. Mike Millis, would you please ask him how one can make themselves a better applicant since he does not have the decency to return phone calls.

Oh, but I did get my deposit back after a few phone calls and an email and saved 15% on my car insurance by switching to Geico!

Good luck to all you future students. I don't doubt Millis is a good company but I am not so sure now I would want to work for someone who is so wishy washy.

 

Wow that sucks I was going to start on March 19 in Ohio and had to move it to April 16, hope I don't get a call before then...Good luck to you!

Another noob question........... Do you take towels with you or are they provided at the truck stop Hilton?

 

Truckstops provide towels but if you shower at a terminal you will need your own.

 

Thanks L.B next question.........How often does a person get by a terminal?

 

Varies, have went 2 weeks without seeing a terminal, and have been in them every other day. I would suggest taking a couple towels, Pilot/Flying J only give you one, TA/Petro give you 2 and a towel floor mat, Not sure about Loves. As far as showering at the terminals, Weedsport or BRF sure, any others I would say at your own risk. That is just my opinion.

 

That ones harder to answer. It all depends on location and freight. I can tell you between truck stops and terminals, most days you will have access to free showers. Occasionally you may have to skip a day. For me it was usually when I spent the night at a shipper/receiver. For example, tonight I am shut down at Owens Brockway in ATL. Early today I was at a pilot and our yard in Albany GA. Both of which have showers.
