I would fix them both and use the Uniden and keep the 25 for a back up, or sell it. If both radios are tuned up properly, one probably won't be any better than the other as far TX/RX are concerned. I too prefer the older radios however and would likely choose the Uniden.

I can recommend a good tech if you don't mind the freight to send them to him. They will be set up right, tuned to their max potential without any stupid modifications that cause them to squeal, splatter and die an early death. You would be very pleased........let me know if you are interested.

Coax connector for ball mount: see picture, simple! (braid to ground, center conductor to antenna.)

I might be interested in sending them off... What did you have in mind? And thanks for the pic. That helped a lot. I've been out of touch for a while trying to finish my house but I'm checking back in now. Still haven't ruled out a general lee, also been eying the superstar 121 I believe. Any thoughts on that radio?

The General Lee is a dual final radio which means it puts out a little more power, and it looks better too. The Lee also has 6 bands where it appears the 121 only has 3, which is most likely all you'll ever need or use. It wouldn't matter if you are going to run a linear, the one final radio would be just as good. I don't care for the look of the 121 but they are both probably equal in quality. I would choose the dual final/six band Lee over the 121 if it was me though. However, set up right, those hearing both radios would probably not be able to tell much difference in them up close, all things being equal. Because of the dual finals, the Lee should reach out a little further however.

PMs sent to both of you.
