That's friggin pathetic. I don't think I moved a thing today for less than $3 a mile to the truck.

Some agents. I had access to the full site for a few months one time. I could find the same load with different agents with upwards of a thousand dollars difference in the rate.

I was really considering buying a truck again and running regional from NC to Nashville or Atlanta and back, but changed my mind partially due to things like that.

If I were to do it I would work off the board instead of leasing on, so that would have made it harder to get in good with an agent with these kind of regular loads.

It's hard stuff. We moved something like 40 loads today when other agents/brokers couldn't even touch us. Maybe it's because we pay the truckers a fair wage and don't try to insult their intelligence?

You probably won't need a TWIC unless you go to the ports. A few shippers do require the TWIC. You can get a discount if you already have the hazmat endorsement. It costs $135 without the hazmat and $105 with the endorsement. At least that is what it cost when I got mine. Both of these are all about the money. The same company does both background checks, but supposedly have different computer systems that don't communicate with one another. Some ports also have their own card you must purchase, but you need the TWIC to get their card. It doesn't take long to get the TWIC. I would wait to see if you really need it. There is already talk about replacing the TWIC with yet another card. I suppose they are not making as much money as they thought on these cards. I don't think Landstar requires the TWIC card to lease on with them. They do require the hazmat.

    Truck609 Thanks this.

I was told you have to have the hazmat or are in the process of getting it.
