Yeah...My only run in with OS&D came when the girl got annoyed because I didn't leave the reefer running all night to keep 2 (count them...2) cases of Pillsbury biscuits cold so they could be taken to the food pantry. She asked me why I didn't leave it running. I told her very flatly that the cost of diesel to run the reefer continuously for over 12 hours was not worth the cost of 10 cans of biscuits...much less the cost of running the truck to the food pantry.

Why do these places always reject stuff like that? Why can't Hershey's reject a pallet of candy or something?

Just got done driving through some nasty 60+ mph wind today. Even with 44000 in the box it was scary. Wind is expected to stay steady through tomorrow evening. Gonna wake up in the am and see what happens. i-80 is still shut down in Wyoming, doesnt look to get any better until around Thursday, Im staying safe, not stressing, not gonna let it bother me. It is what it is. ON a good note, picked up an xm radio tonight, tired of the radio station game....lol. It rocks.

Canceled the aliance class, just not ready to commit yet. To much Im still learning, not ready to throw the eggs in the basket yet. Maybe in the summer. I just made g-3....thats exciting, i like progression in all forms.

Guy who said I hit his mirror has yet to get ahold of stevens about it. Been 30 days 60 more and if he doesnt get ahold of them the case will be closed indef. I wouldnt mind that, even though its a scam anyway. He cannot prove it was done....well....it wasnt. I have the pics he has none, he didnt see it and the damage to his mirror is inconsistent with his story. Anywho havent been messing with tight spots at all since, staying on a schedule that allows me to park freely. Run all night, sleep all day...lol.

    Stay safe, Shifty.

Going on day 3 here at the Petro in Laramie. 8000 lb load destined for Walmart in Loveland. EB I80 is open as is 287 SB but no light loads due to the wind. Talked to a few driver on the CB and its split 50/50: half say 287 is a complete mess and way too windy even to a fully loaded trailer; the other half say they flew up it 80 MPH with an empty trailer.

So I'm using my spidey sense and staying put until I'm comfortable I won't get blown off the road. This trailer full of toys isn't gonna spoil. :)

Wind a very dangerous enemy. A 22 mph wind will blow a fully loaded trailer over when the trailer is already leaning due to the slope of the highway. I won't drive in 60 mph winds. Not worth the risk.

Now having been born and raised in laramie US287 has a shorter wind shoot than I80 I25 but it is a 2 lane with less room to recover, and sharper curves exposing the underside of the trailer to the wind. It is the wind getting under the trailer and lift it that causes the blow over.

Be safe in windy wyoming. It has begun early this year as compared to the last 20 years, but the weather is returning to what it was in the 70s. Windy windy and spring snow storms.

Stuck in sunny northern california. More trucks than frieght still. But produce is picking up in salinas the pilot is back to being a cluster all day.

So Im coming off hometime. I pull into Campbell's. Grab the empty they tell me to grab and check in. Get a dock door and back in.

They get me 3/4 loaded and stop. The guard comes out and says that I came in earlier and refused the load so they gave it to someone else and to call my dispatch. WTF? I never refused anything.

Call Stevens. Juan - straight to voicemail. Jihad - straight to voicemail., Scott M - straight to voicemail. other Scott - straight to voicemail. Archie-No answer.

Finally I call Will at the window and he walks over and tells the dedicated group to call me. I finnaly get a call 15 mins latter after they are done unloading me and loading it on other truck.

Stevens knows nothing about this and there going to call Campbells to find out. Meanwhile my load just drove off into the sunset .....

Shut down in Utah, 65-75 mph winds in Wyoming. Supposed to clear sometime in the night. Drove through ice, snow, and wind in Oregon but nothing compared to what the last 200 miles felt like. Scary.....pure scary. Not gonna die out here.....just gonna wait it out. Be safe drivers. ps....I LOVE MY JOB!!! Shifty.

Well, we were looking forward to a nice, leisurely drive into Shafter, CA today for a 330 delivery tomorrow a.m. Stopped at Walmart in Winslow, AZ to shop, had just got back on the road when produce calls. 'We have a load in trouble headed to Denver for a.m. delivery" Seems that the driver is a 'prima donna' that doesn't drive at night so he drove 2 hours after he got loaded yesterday afternoon, then stopped for his break. Brand-new account too. So instead of nice sunny Cali, we get to join the 'kite club' in Colorado.

Cambells can't decide who gets which load without Stevens approval. Looks fishy.

So, turns out Campbells gave the load to 2 different carriers by mistake, Stevens and Flemming. By the time they figured out what happened the other driver was 1 and a 1/2 hours down the road already. So Campbells agreed to pay me layover pay for sitting tonight. I got another load picking up after midnight tonight.

    Greetings and Hallucinations!
    Well where do I start?
Brought a Peterbilt load out of Canada to deliver in Sanger. Everything went well until I exited from South 35 on exit 477...you know the one...have to make a sharp right, then another right to get on the bridge over the freeway to get to the shop?
Kind of like a u turn.
Well the only way to do it is to use the entire oncoming lane on both turns so your off tracking doesn't end off the road.
Half way thru, another truck coming the other way begins HIS turn.
We stared at each other and I figured the only solution was for me to turn hard right and clear his lane, let him slip by, then swing back out and finish my turn.
After he went by, I looked out my mirrors and saw the tandems on solid black.
It thought that was solid black gravel.
It looked that way in the dark.
Turns out solid black gravel looks the same as a the black abyss.
So suddenly my trailer tilted and picked my drive wheels off the pavement, and I was stuck.
As I waited for the wrecker, dispatch told me, "Oh! We don't route anyone that way anymore. There's a new way. We were getting too many trucks stuck there. Here... I'll send you the new directions!"
Don't you think it would have been better to have sent them yesterday?
The wrecker and police both told me they 'rescue' 4-5 trucks a week from that ramp.
So back to the yard for a talk and a drive.
    I am now back out.
Have a T-5 student that needs the NE and a mountain, so here we sit in Broken Bow, OK waiting for a Tyson load, then off to PA.
I can tell you that upstairs is all over the safety department over accidents, incidents and trucks with tandems suspended over the abyss!
ce la guerre ### a la guerre!
