does anyone know about Dana Transport and how they operate. If the dispatchers are fair to the owner/operator drivers by distributing out loads evenly? I'm hearing conflicting stories and most of the ones that i am hearing are not good at all.

Back in 2003 I listened as Ron Dana spoke to the Krajack Owner Operators about his purchase of the trailers and business, as well as bringing in Joe Krajack's oldest son.
Dana does not release their info so you will never see them listed on the Modern Bulk Transporter's top 100 BUT the revenue numbers he mentioned [then] would have placed them in the top 5 which would also give them a place in the CCJ top 100 carriers. He bought Suttles a long time ago even if some of the ex-Suttles people say other wise and there are still a few 'Suttles Leasing' decals on some of the trailers.
AFAIK most of the ex-Krajack guys are still with Ron. The one dispatcher [ex-owner op] from Krajack was driving again, for Dana, the last time I saw him. Dana later bought Krajack's property [alot don't know he did!] and has someone operating the wash rack there w/ Slay and Schneider Bulk as some of his tennants.
He didn't get this big, and stay under the radar, if he wan't treating his people fairly.
He outlasted MATLACK [Ron was a lease operator who left because he felt he could do better]...and he did!
He has purchased alot of the old Matlack terminals and has opened most [not all!] so it looks to me that he has a solid and stable company and a large market share.

I've been with Dana since Jan '04. I do OK, not gettin' rich but they treat ya like a human most of the time. Some terminals better than others. The chemical business can be frustrating at times. Sometimes there are long delays...but ya get paid demurrage after 2hrs. 150-200k depending on type of work ya do. Only warning is watch your settlements, they tend to make mistakes, you need to stay on top of them.
