I failed a drug test that I shouldn't have. I would've fought it, but, they wanted $125 within 24 hrs to test the split. I had $150 on me and 500 miles to walk to get to my nearest bank (I had lost my wallet the month prior, and hadn't been home yet to get my new atm card). I had to get a hotel room for me and my dog to wait for my girlfriend to get the free time to ride all the way up there to get me.
Fast-forward to now. I've been under-employed since then, and worked as a CNA for the last year. I just recently found out why my test came back positive. My now ex-gf, who hated that I was gone all the time, had been putting weed in the food when I was at home, in the hopes that I would fail a drug test, and have to find a job that didn't involve so much away time.
I'd like to get back into trucking, and I recently checked my DAC, it didn't mention the drug test, or anything pertaining to drugs, for that matter. There was something in there about the truck being towed, but, it may, or may not, have been the drivers fault, and none of the reasons mention involved impairment, or being under the influence.
Anybody have any thoughts on this dilemma?

If it's not a public, Then why even mention it? Abba?

I wouldn't mention it, but, on every companies past employment verification form, the question about drug tests in the last three years is asked, and pursuant to DOT 49 CFR Part 40, the past employer has to answer it.
I know if I wait a couple of months, that shouldn't be an issue. I'm just wondering about how that company (think blue) will answer the questions about why I was fired, and why they won't re-hire me. -
The "reason" why you tested positive is kind of a moot point now. I assume when you tested positive you were given information for SAP and the process(es) you have to go through. Even though your DAC does not say anything, what does your MVR say?

Because you failed/tested positive you will have to go through an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) which you have to pay for. Basically it's drug counselling.

Apply to a few companies you don't want to work for, just to see if that info is out there.

So I take it this was a random test as to why your trk got towed? So not if but when a company ask why your trk was towed what r u going to tell them?I would'nt mention the failed drug test but you better have a good answer why your trk was towed.

I know the reason is moot, I just wanted to stave off the "only losers fail drug tests" BS. Unsure what my MVR says, I guess it's time for a trip to the DMV. I've been pulled over twice since. Once for a burned out tag light, and the other time for tying a red light. I'm sure both cops had access to it, and neither one treated me like i was Pablo Escobar. In fact, the red light cop told me the reason he didn't write me a ticket had less to do with making him laugh with a quick baseball reference (tie goes to the runner), and more to do with him not wanting to ruin my driving career over a ticket in my personal vehicle.
Drug counseling which would better serve someone with a real addiction. I see no point in admitting to a problem that is non-existent.
I've done just that. That's why I know about DOT 49 CFR Part 40.
I'm not sure. I don't have any accidents (prev or non), and no abandonments. I was thinking about just saying I had a dispute with the dispatcher I had been switched to without notice, about home time promised by my original dispatcher, and she just told me to leave the truck sitting. I don't know what they will, or can, divulge.
