Unmuffled Jake Brake

Simple man, they don't want to hear the things cracking. I had 8" straight pipes on the pete I ran step with and ANY time I came up to a scale house or an inspection area I grabbed that switch and turned them off. The less of a reason you can give them to write you a ticket or warning the better.

 

i run flowmasters on my Nova and have to run 2 sets on each side to try to calm it down but its still loud as heck..i had straights before on my truck but i dont anymore..besides with all these cities cracking down on so called Noise Pollution its not worth it that is unless you have your THUMP BOX rattling your windows loose on your impala...

 

I used to run straight pipes on my rig just because they are cheaper. I think the mayor asks for those signs to be put up in certain areas just to help keep the noise down. I really don't think they enforce these laws.

Having had fix it tickets, I beg to differ myself.
I was running a resonator, and the DOT cop stated on the fix it ticket that it is required to have a MUFFLER and not a resonator. All per DOT regs, so not a lot to argue about really.
I did it to allow me more room for my headache rack at the time. I had to get a muffler before leaving the state and get the ticket signed to say I did so, as well as move my headache rack back to allow the room needed for it.
Needless to say, mufflers from now on.

if you have a really loud jake and see a sign that says no unmuffled jake breaks just turn them off otherwise you may come threw again another time and the sign will be changed to engine breaks prohibited

 

Dirty D, they must do things differently in Florida then because in the part of Colorado I was in for most of my life, they didn't care if "designed to be loud" "mufflers" were still considered a muffled exhaust or not.

Straight exhaust or loud-@$$ed glasspacks, cherry bombs or flowmasters, if your exhaust could be heard for more than a block or two away, or you set off a few car alarms as you drove by, depending on what time of day it was, you could still get a ticket.
