Completed my restart and started West from drizzly Peru, IL this morning. Got to Lexington, NE Wal Mart for my weekly shopping and 10 hr break without a hitch. They were saying it would be windy here, but there's nary a breeze. Well, I get to try my turn at Wyoming tomorrow. This load is due in Ogden on Fri, and it 45,000lbs, so I'm not really worried.
Stay safe all!!

hey now I am one of those "prima donas" that wont drive at night after I have been up all day waiting on a produce shed to load me. Safety comes first. So be careful with the assumptions. And never believe what produce dispatch tells you, especially when you stop in their favorite place for repowers.
New account in denver, I highly doubt it.
Finally got dispatched, a target load, pick up cuties in bakersfield, first, then down to oxnard to pick up berries. will take all day to do those two picks, and then I will drive about 3 hours and shut down for the day. My preference would be to run up to 80 across wy, I make better time, but another storm is moving in for the weekend, so looks like the southern route, which means lots of 2 lanes across tx, ok and kansas... slow roll....
Wondered what had happened to the Captain of fleet 50! -
Man, I love this place!! " do not change that light bulb!, we will have road service come out and do it. Just pop the Hood and get your rest. You are a driver, not a mechanic" AWSOME!!
Shiftylots Thanks this. -
I'm going to be going to Dallas, Tx for the cdl training to get my cdl. Ive been hearing good things and some bad things.. Just want to make sure im making right decision... Any help or tips would be great

If it is your heart that desires the job than yes. Finances can be hard in the beginning if you have a family, if you are single than more power to you. It is doable either way but takes a lot more planning if you have a wife kids and bills, just a heads up. I have loved it for the most part. You will learn quickly what to listen to and what not to. There are after all 2600 drivers making a living here!!! Be well and good luck!
Well Im awake, and its time to try and rough out Wyoming, wind is still high but I have 40000 in the box so it should be ok, take it slow and if it gets to crazy ill park her. Be well drivers. Shifty. -

LOL, not you TLea, and I agree if you've been on the dock you have already burned your hours. Not the case with this load, arrival time, etc printed on the bills. He was in and out in no time flat. Head of produce is furious with the night shift for not keeping a closer watch on it. They are also a bit perturbed because they told him on the phone to make sure and put 4, count them 4, load locks on the load and he only used 2 then sealed the trailer. Only 10000 lbs so we have our fingers crossed that the winds up around Denver to have died down. -
Im headed to the yard now and Im sure I get a red shirt in the jumpseat as well!!!
Fyi, I would have S*** my pants in that situation so
..........

Yeah I mean I really want to do this. But am I going to have to wait for a trainer after the cdl school. And are the trucks nice and new like promised. I know there's a lot of people employed here. I just wanna make sure everything my recruiter told me is true ya know. Don't wanna get screwed
-
Normal fears, I have been with the company 6 months and I drive a fairly new truck, they equipment is top of the line. Better than almost all other fleets by large!!nascarchuck Thanks this.
