Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rule would prohibit commercial drivers from reaching for, holding or dialing a cell phone while operating a CMV. Drivers who violate these restrictions would face federal civil penalties of up to $2,750 for each offense and disqualification of their commercial driver's license (CDL) for multiple offenses. Additionally, states would suspend a driver's CDL after two or more violations of any state law on hand-held cell phone use.
Motor carriers that allow their drivers to use hand-held cell phones while driving would face a maximum penalty of $11,000. Approximately four million interstate commercial drivers would be affected by this proposal
My work told me this passed

My phone doesn't have voice dialing.

Looks like it's time for me to upgrade. -
Now if the powers that be would limit the 4 wheels the same way...
ewill71, Mommas_money_maker and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
While the gods over us are at it, they need to now go after our CBs, Sat. Radios, and even those old AM-FMs! Who knows we may reach for a knob or a mic and kill ourselves, In fact. They better do away with GPS. There could be some soul out there that looks at it while driving! and the fines. Well our gods need more money so they should at least take a years income for the first offense! Oh yes.... They are trying this in the Commie state of Ill as I type!
