Flight, I was in your almost exact situation (minus the accident) about 3 months into my lease. I was at the yard and had already given my keys to the guy in the window in bay 7 before I went upstairs to tell Bonnie I was done with Alliance. And she listened to my concern and reasons for wanting to go back to company before she offered up a solution similar to what Emulsified explained.

Since then I have been profitable by learning from my prior mistakes and making adjustments: not necessarily how I drove or ran my truck, but more how I conducted my self...instead of going home when I wanted, I went home when my business said I could afford to (which is still every 5-6 weeks for 5 days). Instead of being stubborn and refusing a load that I didn't like, now I call and calmly discuss it with the dispatcherand my DM. Almost always we work out a compromise that keeps me rolling and gets their load moving down the road.

Alliance is hard work...no doubt about it..alot of times for not much more money than you'd get on the company side. But when freight is hopping and you're in that 'groove' then you see the benefit of being a lease-op. Now, half of that money I make when tho gs are good here put away so I can make it through the bad times.

I just spent 4 days sitting at the Petro in Laramie due to weather. The old me would've been crying to anyone who'd listen about how I'm getting screwed and I'm turning in my truck first chance I get. The newer me just room it in stride and watched 'walker Texas Ranger' marathons in the TV room until I was ready to puke from all the terrible acting. :). I didn't get stressed about it one time. Sure...I'll have to work hard to get back on the black side of the tape but the no ey I saved up to this point takes care of me and my family. My fiancée and her two kids won't even feel the difference over the next two weeks while I'm playing catch up.

I just urge you to think this through before you give up. You seem like intelligent and willing to work hard. This run of bad luck is just that...a run of bad luck. If you talk with Bonnie and Cat and possibly ask for some advice from the members here I'm sure you'll be profitable and happy you stayed with Alliance by the end of winter.

    Good luck

Just concentrate on getting through the next 3 months without expectations or you WILL be dissapointed. Sounds bad but any truck driving school should be approached as a stepping stone to what you really want to do. I wasn't expecting anything 'cool', ignore the jerks and the know it alls and the @sshats, there will be plenty of these. A truck driving school is the catch all of society, be happy if they brush their teeth and take a shower.

Things just don't add up here. If you aren't taking cash advances, you are running efficiently, you are averaging 3000mi per week, what else do you have coming out of the settlement??? Insurance??? Shop loans??? The money is going somewhere.

He is not averaging 3000 miles a week. He just completed a 3000 mile week after a week on the yard. That is only 1500 miles a week.

Flight has had massive down time for the last 3 months and the payments continue while there was no income.

Creates the big hole he is in where he feels he is not being compensated.
