KE - I'm a student to driving tractor-trailer, not life. I was responding to FLCDL as we both live in the same area of Fl(not TX) and are going through similar difficulty finding "quality" employment opportunities at this early stage in our new careers. Your Lone Star perspective and experience, while appreciated, should not be assumed as qualifications to be disrespectful. I believe most of my post was based on actual experiences and discussions with actual people related to Werner, not reading posts from strangers. The rest was a pre-emptive attempt to fend off flaming trolls by establishing that I have done actual research not just read and reposted regurgitated complaints and anonymous ventings/rants( many of which are simply unreadable illiteracies). Apparently that was a FAIL! Oh well.
FLCDL - PM me, the recruiter came today, seemed normal enough, no rah rah just this is who we are, what we do, here's what we offer, orientation( 2 days in Lakeland, then out with a trainer for 275 hours@$400/wk), new dedicated with Anheiser-Busch(used to be CCC account) if you live within 30 miles of JAX(I don't), benefits(they have them), pay( it varies based on which division you go to) Prepass, Qualcomm and Elogs, etc etc. No outrageous claims( maybe they save that stuff for the 3 week school guys?JK), per diem is optional, 7500 tractors, 25K trailers, flatbed, van, tcu, otr, dedicated and regional lanes etc etc. Like I said, the guy I met that has worked for them over a year and a half said he was happy with them as a "starter company", he is getting plenty of miles and is in a 2012 Prostar Plus. Maybe they suck, maybe they don't. What I do know is they are hiring in Florida, south of I-4, right now, as we speak.
And they're not automatics. And they don't "take everyone" as one of my classmates found out today.

And since Schneider was mentioned, let me tell you my impression of them. The former student/current Schneider driver that came by a couple weeks ago was in an 06 F-liner RAG that looked like it hadn't been washed since 07. Broken EVERYTHING, cut sidewall and chunk missing out of RF STEER tire and generally in worse shape than any of my schools old FLD's. Now I know(hope) this was not REPRESENTATIVE of SNI, and they may be a great company, but it is a REAL experience, not a "I read it on the internet, it must be true".

You are a student. Not even a rookie yet. Talk to me after you have some miles under your belt.

One good thing you need to know : respect those who have paved the way for you. Including drivers on the internets.

Con-Way Truckload hires out of FL, I'm at Crowder Boot camp right now and there is 4 people from FL, and the starting pay is alot more of Werner for a recent grad.

    KE5WDP Thanks this.

Good info. Hopefully that will help them out and end all the excuses.

Some Werner trucks have Thermoking APU's with inverters. Mine did (54807). The newer ones do not.

If you don't have an APU, you CANNOT install an inverter. Nor will the shops.

I understand you have people in FL but they are straight out of driving school not just signing on looking for work. I have been out of a truck of 2-3 yrs. Conway requires 6mo for people not straight out of school. Schneider national is a great company but they are not hiring below Orlando I was on the phone with them today.

OK, not sure of your current situation, but maybe a week or so at a refresher course might be worth it to go with Con-Way instead of Werner. Again just giving an option, any way good luck.
