It doesn't change the fact they still have the same number of trucks they had a year ago . So where are all the newbies they hire going ?
They are going all over the country to recover trucks abandoned by other newbies that were hired a few months ago . The " increasingly challenging driver market " means it's tough to hire them as fast as they quit.
Werner it is!

Does that reflect on Werner or the current available workforce? How many people just say "Screw this, I can go...insert unemployment, welfare, another job not involving real responsibility here.....instead of trucking." Because they are either not cut out for the road, lack the proper work ethic or both. And I also noticed alot of piling on in these threads by people who admittedly never worked for Werner and just wonder if you removed all the forum posts that are illiterate rants by genetic detritus who were turned away at the door or given a chance and predictably failed and the Werner bashing posts by haters, there actually is quite a few posts by drivers who have in the past or do currently drive for Big Blue and like it. I read the statement "challenging driver market" as "we can't find enough people who WANT to work for a living but we find alot who SAY they do".

Every starter company is just that. You're there to learn and get that i yr exp then go elsewhere.Werner has heard every complaint there is and that is one company that will never change and never cater to the drivers.I drove for them for 3 yrs.The entire 3 yrs was bad but I stuck with them anyway.

this is so true. good words. -
Mill schools and BFIs are like any other company offering products or services in a capitalist system. They create a product or service, market it( would anyone go to a school if the tagline was "6 grand and 3 weeks later, STILL BROKE!" or "We get you your license, but nobody will hire you S-Bag!"hahaha that last one cracked me up.......sorry, anyway, I'm pretty sure they aren't taking these people to r-master @ gunpoint. And then they make a profit.
And companies like Werner aren't Collectives of the Peoples Unity Transportation Systems, know what I mean? They are for profit, corporations and driving for them is an employment opportunity created by their business model.
Wouldn't the posts on here be hilarious if the recruiter's spiel went something like this: HI, I'm Tricky Rick, your area BFI recruiter, and listen to the crappy entry-level career opportunity you just spent $6000 to hear. I say crappy because I'm sure ALL of you are used to eating steak and caviar every night off supermodels' chests after driving your Jaguar to the club.....NO? Then it might be nice to have a J-O-B huh? Our orientation process is much akin to a production line at the local slaughterhouse, but that's only because 7 out of ten of you are just kidding yourselves. You don't have the personal responsibility, motivation or maturity to drive the cash register at Taco Bell, BUT we are willing to give anyone who has not already proven themselves to be completely irresponsible to the law and the general public a chance to pilot 80k lb mobile cargo transportation machines over public roads in hopes of finding enough DECENT workers to meet our customers expectations and profit projections. I could tell you about all our benefits and programs, but odds are you just want to know if the dipstick is chrome and if you can pay for commercial company on a Comcheck. SO if I say yes, I get more money and you get to find out that you should have done some more payin' 'tenshun in high school and your parents weren't helping you out by not teaching you to BE PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELF AND THE DECISIONS YOU MAKE IN LIFE AND THEIR DIRECT CONSEQUENCES! Thank you and I hope you choose my company or I'll be eating canned tuna and ramen again tomorrow on the way to Tampa. All other questions will be answered by inside recruiting at 1-555-GO2-WORK.Vitamin D Thanks this. -
Hey, at least if you start out on the bottom the only other way to go is up right?
Werner is the only company who has offered me an invite to orientation. Discouraging? A little. A chance to get out there and do the dang thang for a year to get that experience I need? Yessiree! The chance to turn my current status of unemployed to employed? You betcha! Just my $.02......
I haven't actually decided what I'm going to do or who I'm going to go with yet. All I know is I'm just going to be happy to be starting my new career. -
call Watkins Shepard you'll make $40,000 MORE your first year then you will with werner
