I am thinking of moving to better the quality of life for my family as well as myself. I would like to get off the road(at least for weeks and weeks at a time). But still willing and wanting to drive, just be home daily or at least weekly and still make great money. Any ideas on a city, state or part of the country that is best? I would really like to find a great place to live that is nice for raising my kids and be able to see them. I would seriously consider North Dakota, but I am not willing to live in my car to do it, ya know? Any ideas?

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

North Dakota isnt too bad unless you are close to the oil fields and then good luck with that. Ive lived in Houston, TX and now in MN and I like the enviroment for raising kids in the smaller towns here in MN. Friendlier enviroment, just my two cents. Good luck.

Where do you live now wolfy7203? Probably not good for finding a local trucking job. But I bought a second house 6 years ago in SW Montana. Talk about going back in time. We're talking Mayberry RFD! Would be a great place to raise a family if you like things the way they used to be.

Live in Deland Florida now, near Daytona. No local work here to be had, and if there is, it doesn't pay any more then the golden arches would.

Seriously, or joking?

Have you tried Davis Express out of Starke? They require 2 years OTR which you have and they are a Southeast Regional company. Heyl out of Zephyrhills is a good outfit and can get you home fairly often and they have alot of Florida freight.

You're still with Con-way right? Why not consider switching to the LTL side? If you relocate, do it near one of their many terminals across America.

I have looked into Davis, but wasn't really impressed with what I saw, they seem decent, but I have this thing against grocery dock sitting because of the first company I went with, and it would take some major guarantees in writing before I drove reefer again. I will take a look at Heyl though, thanks.

Heyl is reefer also. Most of your Florida options are gonna be reefer. We just don't manufacture much down here.
