i was reading in one of those transportation magizines that 65% of the industry companies agree that driver wages need to go up substancily to save the industries driving force from leaving. i wonder when they intend to do it? i believe if they paid evetone a decent hourly wage to run wehter it be local or otr there wouldnt be a driver shotage or for that matter log violations or safty concern. after all if your paid by the hour why speed and forge hours on the books it would greatly improve the industry plus the driver might actually make a livable wage. but i suppose i live in a fantasy land

Werner's biggest problem is that the people now at the helm never drove. Mr. Craig is out of the picture.

I agree drivers pay should increase but OTR companies will never pay hourly that's like $1000.00 a week.Considering there is more sitting then driving, companies would be losing money.Of course it would improve the industry and very little turn over rate because drivers know they'd be getting paid reguardless pf hpw long they sit and I think more drivers would get lazier then what they are now if got paid by the hr.I blame the laziness on the companies though not the drivers. If you sit down and do the math truckers are'nt even getting paid min wage.

I do think though a law should be inforced that companies pay more then what they do with exp.Every company has different wages.I think new drivers to 6 months should get paid 30 cpm and that applies to ALL COMPANIES.Then every 6 months a 2 cent raise.Companies can get away with whatever wage they wish but

if it became law they must pay the drivers a cetain amount at least then we the drivers would know at least someone is on our side.

This all sounds great, but reality is that pay is dependent on your driving record, experience, dependability, and work ethic.
