I was in the class with pumpkin king, I agree, great training. There is about only a 65% graduation rate because the school is tough, 55 hours a week for 2 months. I finished 2nd in the class and had a job offer everywhere I applied.

If it has been more than 7 years or longer, since your last felony. Not such a big deal.Mine are 18,and 24 years old.I worked pretty hard to turn my life around, and I also had my own business for 13 years. Plus there are companies that are not exactly A-list companies that will give you a start. Just keep searching, and be sure not to let the company that gives you a chance down. My record is not the prettiest and I found a job. Thanks again Howard! I will not let you down!
OH I forgot to mention the violent crimes will hurt you pretty bad,not saying you did anything violent, but just keep trying someone WILL give you a chance. If you Google it,there companies that will hire felons.
My wife says to Google trucking companies that will hire former felons.
Good luck, and like Dora from finding Nemo said,"Just keep swimming". If that makes any sense to you at all!
Also Going to the best school helps loads!
NC Truck Driver Training School! Simply the best in the nation, and the one others are modeled after!

Is Mr. Sherman you refer to Mr. Tom Sherman that has a long history in North Carolina truck driver training? He started in the eighties in western NC.

Not sure,I do know that after driving a tractor he worked with Greyhound as well. Also is ex military I think. The guy is funny, and makes you think. You tend to remember what he teaches. I enjoyed the experience, even though I was grilled:biggrin_2554: for not knowing how much fuel was in the tractor. Fuel, not gas as he put it. I'll never forget to check my fuel manually again.

Went back to the school today to see the next class. For some odd reason there always seems to be that one person in the class that thinks he already knows it all,and this class was no different.
    GOOD LUCK GUYS!
I HOPE YOU ALL MAKE IT! :biggrin_25520:

The Tom Sherman I know and I worked together in developing truck driver training for the NC Community Colleges Continuing Education division through Blue Ridge Comm Coll in Hendersonville during the late eighties. PDTI(A) with Ed Kynaston was in it's infancy. The NC Truck Driving Training Prog at JCC was the premier training opportunity then and have continued their success. Thanks for the info and insight you have posted here Pumpkin King. I wish you the best!
