I've got 3 Cobras on a shelf at the house, and a General Lee mounted in the truck.

But no radio will TX or RX well without a good antenna and very good coax. And get a noise-cancelling mic.

My bother runs a 29 with a 4.5ft Francis. He talks 10-15 miles, or further, all the time (conditions and terrain being favorable) His 29 was tuned by my favorite radio tech. I can't remember but it might have the 2SC1969 final in it. Point being, I would think with RFX75 mod you would be making bigger claims than 10+ miles. With good conditions, a stock 29 will do that. If you are doing that in noisy conditions, then that is very good.

I would get the Gen Lee. Best trucking radio out there for the average user. IMHO. Dual finals for power, easy to switch between bands, uncomplicated to operate, not to expensive.

Anyone got the Cobra 29 LT with the Bluetooth? If so what are your thoughts on the Bluetooth part of it. I still think I am going with the GL but I was wondering how well the BT part works on this Cobra.

i was getting about 6 miles out with factory 4 ft's and skinny cable with my 29. It puts out 27 watts. With good coax and a Firestix in another truck i did much better.

Most of the time that is during heavy radio traffic. I leave my RF Gain wide open and squelch down the noise.
The other night coming back from Lafayette, I talked with a base station and he stated he was south of Sulphur La. (23 miles south of I-10). We talked for about 5 minutes and he stated I sounded loud and clear.

That sounds more like it is doing what it is supposed to do!
