I've always used the Truckers Friend. If i was in or going to an unfamilar area i could plan where i wanted to stop. Plus it gives you a pretty good run down of what to expect. Past few years i did get in the habit of calling a head to get more detailed info. With the economy in the shape it has been in many resturants are not open 24hrs. anymore. The book is not that expensive and it's tax deductable.

interesting information, thanks...I don't have an Android phone (mine's rugged, not smart), so the apps are out for now...and even though I put in some time behind the diesel counter some years back, I never knew anything about the free guides...go figure. I must've missed that part of the "training". LMAO

You get what you pay for. I don't buy a truck stop guide to find the easy ones that I already know about that are listed in those free guides.

    I buy Fuel Finder every year. ( [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Fuel-Finder-Truck-Robert-Vos/dp/1890141453[/ame] )

This is the blue one with the maps of each state. And yes, the pages are really thin paper. www.TruckStops.com I have seen them for sale in Pilot. Costs $14.95. Personally, I prefer it to "The Next Exit"

One thing to remember. All the T/S Directories are up to date as of the printing. It takes at least couple of months to publish and ship out the directories. I have gone to a T/S posted to find out its closed. :biggrin_25510::biggrin_25510:

I use a book called "Park My Rig" my wife got it for me from amazon. When we were out she couldnt figure out the next exit books when she needed to take a potty break, soo she found this book.. :biggrin_2559: I really like it because all you do is look up the Highway you are on and the state you are in and it lists the exit and mm where there are rest areas, resteraunts and walmarts you can pull a truck into. Tells you how big the lots are, how many spaces are there and a lot of other info. I just found their web site, take a look at it. http://www.parkmyrig.com/ I see their new 2012 versoin has some coupons and things in it.

Just get a Rand McNally TND 710; it has all the truckstops built-in.
