    Admin can correct me if I am wrong about this..... you get the points back after 12 months, but there is still a record of you having had an infraction that stays with your profile. It just doesn't count against you after a year.

    No, they are not permanent, they expire, most after a period of 12 months.

    You have to do quite a bit in a 12 months period here to get banned.
