California Regulations??

Did you bump your head this weekend? Only explanation as to why you would willingly drive to CA!

 

as long as the spread is 10' (i believe that's accurate) you can go 20,000 per axle. If the spread is under that 17,000 per axle

 

10'2" spread is 40k lbs.
Kingpin settings dont come into play on a 48" trailer.

"...If you have a spread axle or tri-axle trailer with more than 8 feet from the center of the first axle to the center of the rear axle, you can have a trailer axle weight up to 42,000. Except in California. California rounds to the nearest whole number. So if you have 8 feet 5 inches, they round the distance up to 9 feet and you're good to haul the weight. But if you have 8 feet 4 inches, they round down and you're limited to 34,000. They do not always check the distance- but they do sometimes check it. Be aware...."

And I don't think you need to bump your head to run to Cali.. I usually make 2 rounds a month out there. Personally I love going out there.

 

I wouldn't say I like it, well not after my $300 ticket for idling precisely 8 minutes, but if it pays I go!
That was just a $300 pot of coffee I was idling to make that morning....

No kidding.
Trucks either side of me idled all night, I got there at @11pm local time and they were running away.
I spoke to the CARB idiot, and he did indeed time me from starting the truck (when I got out of bed), to shutting it off (after a bowl of cereal and coffee pot finished). 8 minutes in total.
Spoke to him for @20 minutes in fact....all the time while he idled his 1/2 ton pickup truck! Told him it was all idiotic, especially as he had been running his pickup all the time, and his reply was "gas engines aren't restricted".
Cant fix stupid, or argue with it with any success.
The load I had took the shipper all day to get to their yard from the port, so at least I got over $500 in detention time, which did pay for the BS ticket I guess.
Next time I loaded in LB, I drove all the way to Kingman before going to bed.....wankers aren't getting me twice! lol

Im with the head bump theory lol Also watch out for the stupid state law saying what lane you can be in. Its not posted all the time, only a few places.
