Two drivers I know working in the US on work permits ( not citizens ) have had their haz mat pulled.....notified by letter.
Permits still good, CDL good just no more haz mat endorsement.
Head of this? Isolated? Trend ? New thing? Old news ?

I just re-read the TWIC rules, which go hand in hand with the HazMat requirements for non-citizens......
Could be they don't have all the documentation papers on file.....whole bunch of hoops to jump through! -
I'd say because of the background check. It's kind of hard to check on someone from another country if they don't have similar regulations or an agreement like we have we Canada.
-
Interesting....... thing is, both have TWIC and both had hazmat and the haz didn't expire, a letter just showed up saying no more haz.
Looks like shifting sands in regs. Maybe DB or SM will see this and weigh in.......get some professional perspective. ( no pun intended ) -
Could depend on what country they are from maybe?

canadian's only need a fast card to haul hazmat in the US

But you don't get the endorsement until after the background check is completed.
This is from the FL CDL handbook:
1.2.6 Hazardous Materials Endorsement Background Check and Disqualifications
If you require a hazardous materials endorsement you will be required to submit your fingerprints and be subject to a background check.
You will be denied or you will lose your hazardous materials endorsement if you:
- Are not a lawful permanent resident of the United States. Certain other individuals with unrestricted employment authorization may qualify for exception.
- Renounce your United States citizenship.
- Are wanted or under indictment for certain felonies.
- Have a conviction in military or civilian court for certain felonies.
- Have been adjudicated as a mental defective or committed to a mental institution.
- Are considered to pose a security threat as determined by the Transportation Security Administration.
-
There's your answer.... that would fit their definition of any truckdriver. -
No no kittyfoot, it says ADJUDICATED as crazy. We are all self proclaimed crazy!
