Gasoline Tanker: Tips on how to make fast drops at stations

We did 12,450 gallons 6 loads a shift twice a day 7 days a week and still had to hire a common carrier to pick up the extra loads. We had one station for a month after it open take two loads a day. Most took a load a day. It was nothing for a station to do 250,000-350,000 gallons a month and a few went a little higher. But that's in a town that is nothing but tourist and locals that drive everywhere.

 

Some times I can do it in about 25 minutes.. That's 12000 of product providing there are the following...
2 Regular tanks
or Multiple products.
If I have diesel I usually drop that first so I can wash the hose out with gas so I don't have to plug the hose.. (sometimes the leak in the tube and make a mess)

 

We hated diesel. Most the time we would shift it over to a common carrier. We all did the same thing with washing out the hoses and fittings.

 

Sucks when your hose tray has a bit of lsd in it.

 

I always used my diesel hose to drop super or midgrade after the diesel was done. No need to mess with caps & plugs, and no diesel in the hose tray.

 

Can any one tell me what the sweet spot is they always order 9000 N/L

 

Unless you have a really light truck and trailer, 9000 gallons of NL will put you over 80,000.

If you stay in the Metroplex and avoid the portables, you'll be ok. Does your truck have a Weight Tolerance Permit issued by TxDOT? If not, ask your company to get one, but be forewarned: they are not valid on Interstate highways.

 

Here in ontario all the gas tankers are normally super b trains with 5 axles, or a single 5 axle trailer

 

I wish they went down the 80,000 here.. It would save us a ton on permits, And wear and tear on the trucks.. We load to 12,000 here..
