So after being here with LS for a few weeks I have started to realize that most the loads in my area that are paying very well are mainly for 48FL and above. Having this step is nice, and I've been able to find loads, but I am seriously thinking about switching over to a 48 flat and see how I do. It seems like I would be able to run a little closer to home and do well. The only down side is most loads want tarps, and after the last 2 tarp loads I've hauled, I have decided that I will leave the tarping to TMC, Decker, and Boyd Bro's :biggrin_2556:

So what do you guys think??

You need to learn how to qualify tarp loads to figure out which ones you don't want. Having the proper tarps makes the job much easier as well. If all else fails, you can always start slamming doors again:biggrin_2559:

So you listen to LS when they told you you needed a stepdeck? If I lived in NW Indiana and wanted to stay closer to home I'd have a flat with sides and be all over the steel market in In, Oh, Ky.

Not so much choosing which ones to tarp as in being told I need 4' drops and the 10 crates are 7' tall LOL.....

And I will never slam doors again unless they are on a tarping system.

LS did not tell me anything about a trailer. I chose a SD because I like hauling machinery. I dont care for steel and the cheap rates associated with it. I've yet to see a coil over $2.50 a mile and as for the covered wagon, I have thought about it but I'd prefer to do more local OS stuff.

The trick is, you put two, maybe three of those coils on and make the big money. Just ask Les and Jfaulk.

If you put a nose cone on the trailer or turbo wing on the truck it might offset the loss in mileage.
