NY guys run hourly, and run suprisingly fast. running at night though, and beating your times, means you can get a little more sleep time if you ae fast. an extra half hour of sleep means a lot to a guy running hard every night. I am suprised that more terminals are not mileage pay.

Go with Conway, UPS Freight guys are being over run with contractors who UPS hires to save some coin. Many drivers are sitting home for weeks at a time
If you can get on in the city at UPS Freight that may be the better way to go.CMate Thanks this. -
Your right and I'am wrong because it's the brown trucks that run slow except for their milage guys that run. The freight guys are all steping along. Somebody back a few pages talked about the brown trucks a I foregot this was about the freight guys.

I used to be on a bowling team with a UPS TT driver, I was running thruway doubles for a company up and down the NYS Thruway. Those guys got it down to a science out here, they way they run, to maximize their breaks. It must have been nice, because if his paperwork said 6 hours, and he got done in 5, there was another hour. the crappy company that I worked for just expeted you to get back faster and cut your own pay.

Question? I live 72 miles from the Con-Way terminal here in Al. But, my Daughter lives 28 miles from the Orlando terminal. Can i train in Orlando even though my Driver License is registered in AL? Would i have to become a permanent resident in F?

Call and ask them, that way you get a solid anwser.

Thanks for the information DOTrevenuepatrol. I'll definitely keep that in mind. I actually received a call from UPS back in October about a job. It was only seasonal so it didn't go much further than that. Of course i didn't know back then that my current job would be ending in about a month. I live within about a 10 mile radius of both a Conway and UPS hub here in Columbus. Would love to get my foot in the door with either one at this point.

Apply to UPS FREIGHT in Columbus. Its right off the 105 Winchester Pike. They are a big terminal and you can start out in the city.
Its true that we have alot of contractors taking work right now, but not from the city drivers. Only from the linehaul guys. And if you have no experience, you have to start out in the city anyway.CMate Thanks this. -
Thanks for the information WW. I know exactly where that is. Will do. -
newsflash there bud, con-way is doing the same thing. You should see some con-way yards and you would think you are in a truck stop parking lot. Buttloads of england, werner, crst vans everynight stacked with freight. I was running linehaul in NY and had to transfer, as I went about 2 months without a run while forward air vans would bring the freight in everynight.
About the only company whose linehaul is internal is old dominion. They haul all their own stuff. Fedex, ABF and the likes are putting alot of stuff on the rails these days.
