    Really??
Cincinnati to Denver 1 coil 42500lbs $3.15 a mile, we've been doing them all month. But your right coils on the load boards dont pay.

    SHC and Yosam Thank this.

    Very true.

Well LS has already got me a new aluminum 48 flat and it's only a few towns away from where I am delivering Thursday so I said f-it and I'm gonna give it a try.

some of us tried to tell ya that didnt we, but that was when you were pape-erized. worry about making money, get off the machinery kick , off your ### and tarp if it needs it, the bottom line is what matters.

you are learning though, not long ago the thought was anything for a flat will fit a step, keep it up.

It would fit the step if I had a 40' bottom deck, but I don't. And to be honest, it seems like the area we live in is mainly flats. At Pape they did machinery so a step was of course the only way to go.

With my truck being heavy and the fact I can get a new flat right now thru LS I figured I would try it out and go for it. Now I just need some more tarps and a ladder !!!

I'm not looking to get into coils just yet. I feel I still need some more experience before I get into that stuff (until I find a really good rate like u said, then I'll hop on it )

But you are correct, running the load board is hard but I'm just trying to make some "in's" with agents in my area. Hopefully it won't take me too long to get a good set of brokers set up to pull for regularly.

the fact is many flat loads wont go on a 40 foot bottom either. you can stay #### busy in your area with a flat.

and a coil isnt a big mystery , just chain it correctly like anything else.

and are you talking a 2.50 a mile to the truck or before lanstar takes their cut? i take if you wanted 2.00 a mile min to truck you would have to set your parameters to what ? 100% minus 2 % ins surcharge and then 73 % per cent of that, which would be 2.75 to 2.80 a mile ???

for you the mercer midwest regional fleet would have worked well for you.

Last LS driver I talked to was complaining that he couldn't get loads on his flat because they wanted trucks that could load 50k.

With the new flat I should be able to scale 48k hopefully but I won't go over 45k. To scale 50k you would almost need a daycab truck and LS does not lease on daycabs.
