I'm currently in phase 2 of the Schneider orientation. I'm going through their Fontana location. The folks here have been great....though it seems every instructor has a different way to drive, so you get lots of confusing instruction. That's the way it was in CDL school too.
I've been well treated. I'm currently on the road with my trainer for a week. Next week I'll finish up classroom time and take the final tests.
Only advice I can give is to make sure you can double clutch. We lost a few in school so far because they couldn't double clutch.
Other than that...just stay cool and keep a good attitude. -
LoL so guess floating the gears isn't going to work... I'm just going thru oriention not the school part
-
That IS the orientation. Schneider doesn't have a CDL school.
They spend the first week training and evaluating you. If you can float the gears then you should be able to double clutch.
I was taught to float the gears at CDL school, but I was able to pick up double clutching during the orientation without any difficulty. It's like floating the gears only just remember to tap the clutch to take it out of gear and tap it again to put in gear.
The really fun thing was, once out with my OTR trainer on his rig, he wants me to float the gears AND skip shift AND clutch....lol
Talk about confusing....but I'm slowly getting it down.
Remember, the orientation is really a 3 week long interview, they are evaluating everything you do so stay cool and be positive.
