I have a peaked and tuned cobra 29 wxnwst with a wilson 5000 mag mount ( No power ) for my personal vehicle. I have heard various reports that the backwards sway of the stinger from highway speeds takes away from the dx/tx. Dont get me wrong I love the wilson 5000. I just recently bought a few antennas to test against the wilson to see if i can get the same results, worse results, or perhaps better. I have order the francis 5 ft, firestik (tuneable) 5 ft, and the 7 ft skipshooter. All three of these antennas have not arrived yet, so looking for your opinion on these three from the gurus.![]()

Not even close to a guru, but I have the exact Cobra, and i use the 5.5 ft. Francis. Much better than the 4.5 or the 5 ft.. I have a K30 by K40 on my car with 1.2 SWR. Works really well, also.

Hi Tricky Rick. I had the K30, couldnt get out more than half mile. My very first antenna was a k40 mag. it was very good except the coax broke. so, went with the wilson 5k mag mount. I may use power someday. for now, i think its overkill. it works well. cant wait to see the others perform believe it or not I had the swr's on the k40 mag mount flat on all channels. the wil 5k mag is about 1.3 across the board.

no...that wont take away from your dx/tx...Being a Base Loaded Antenna tho will make it less efficient...Center load and top-load antennas will be more efficient, or if you can get away using a 102" Whip would be best...
I have no problems being herd, or hearing others using center loaded, open-coiled type antenna's like the Predator 10K's...
