Ever try to put tire chains on with full fenders? I never even thought about it till my buddy brought it up but I cant even get my fingers between the tire and the fender.

People that put them purdy fenders over their drives and their trailer axles carry chains?

I've always assumed those drivers are owner/operators that stay parked when the conditions required being chained up.

Even if you could get the chains on could you get then tight enough to keep them from eating up the fenders is they are that tight to the tire.

my fenders look pretty tight but I chained up and never had a problem. Ofcourse, I wasn't driving 50 mph with them on

I put my chains on tight enough that I can't even twist all the D cams and the only bungee cord I use is to secure the slack on the outside so it don't beat the hell out of everything but, with those fenders, you wouldn't be able to go over 10-15 mile an hour while chained up.

Yup, do it all the time......'course my fenders are a bit higher than a highway truck's :biggrin_25522:. I have an old LTL 9000 and the fenders are only about half this high and it is a PITA to put chains on but we don't run steering chains on the drives, we only run triples. I doubt that it is even possible to put a set of triples on most highway trucks with fenders.

Oh well the truck I run I can get chins under the fenders but the little kenworth in the yard with fenders I tried and cant hardly get fingers between tires and fenders. Kinda made me curious if that happens often

Buddy of mine bought the "Insta-Chain" setup for his T660 with fenders. He loves it.....I'm still skeptical, but he runs Chicago to Reno every week so I gues it must work for him.
