Hi everyone... yes im new... leaving for SLC Saturday for my start of the long two months away from home... Any suggestions on well anything?
what kind of trucks is the company using for the company drivers?
    APU's Yet?
what are the trucks governed at? and does it bother you?
I've done my research and it took awhile to decide on CR are the living conditions at the school really that bad? are their at least beds and wi-fi? guess thats all i need

    Thanks in advance...
Hope to see you all out there

    Hi and Welcome...

Attitude is everything ... that is my suggestion... As to the trucks - I know they have Freightliners and Peterbuilts...No APU's unless you get a turned in lease truck and they haven't removed it yet. Company trucks are goverend at 62-63, lease trucks are goverend at 65. Yes we like the govern - well at least for the most part... we don't 'speed' that way :biggrin_25523: Yes there is WiFi at the terminal and I have no idea what the SLC school is like for staying - think dorm at a poor school from what I could see. There is a cafe' there for food... and a small company store... showers, laundry, beds... its not home, but its bigger than what your truck will be :biggrin_2556:

Enjoy the adventure - and the rest will follow...:biggrin_25525:

If I remember correctly the rooms were the size of my sleeper complete with double bunk and all just the roof is a little higher. Good luck with your training.

So delivering in Phoenix tomorrow and got a pickup there after I deliver. The load info just has a pick up time and place in Phoenix then says 99 to be announced latter Denver CO 3/30/12. Will only take me 2 days to get to Denver so guess I will head to Henderson yard. Not sure where to go.

Well i got some bad news and some good news today...
I was at my Grand mothers house and was telling her that i had decided to join up with central and she was thrilled told her i was going to be leaving monday and she was sad cause im the only person who visits her on a regular basis. Gunna have to make my wife go everyday now instead... but anyways i told her about the mandatory physicals and she's like well you better watch your blood pressure cause you know our family is known to have extremely HBP i was like oh really... so we checked it and im stage three turns out... guess it's time to change everything about my life style... no more soda and no more salt for #### sure... got an appointment with the doctors tomorrow about getting me on some medication to help and maybe it'll be low enough to leave here on Saturday. I'm going to call my recuiter tomorrow after my Doctor appointment let him know whats up and basicly leave it up to him to tell me if he thinks i should wait till the next class or make the trip... what do you guys think... it's not really really really high into stage three it was like 179/113 on my Gmas tester which states this machine is not 100%. I'm going to have it checked at the docs in the morning. well let you guys know...

oh and for the good news i found out i have HPB before i got to SLC and got sent packing...

Yeah... get that BP under control BEFORE you go... with BP issues you will qualify for a one year medical card... at least as far as I know.

Finally! I got to learn how to chain early this morning. After 7 months of driving and a strong urge to go home I went for it. 3 1/2 hrs later I had them all on. Took several tries to get it right. New truck. Only had singles. Maximum chain requirements I80 exit 198 to 135. Truckee to Colfax, ca.

I put a couple on in my driveway over the summer just to see how it was. Nothing like the real deal. Cold, blowing snow, crawling on the ground, putting them on, taking them off, putting them on again. Reading the darn book to see if I was doing it right. Reading the directions in the chain bag. Looking at other trucks. Freezing and wet.

What deal! But, I made it down, didn't lose any chains and I kept the right side up. Next time will be quicker for sure. But I did it.

Make sure you know how to chain before you get off your trainers truck. I don't care what time of year it is. You really don't want to learn in real life situations.

Oh yeah, I thought I was going be one of those that parked when chains are required. Things change.

it snowed in truckee???? there's not a cloud in the sky down south in los angeles.

anything over 160 your screwed. you can get 1 year between 140 - 160. i think you can get 3 months but if it don't come down. you don't get another shot.

i have to go a few hours without a smoke just to be under that magical number of 140 so i can get 2 years.
