lol so true, now that i think about it, you'd get run off at most of these places if you only put in 40-50 hours a week, putting in hours is mandatory out here, at least 60 a week.
70 hours a week is like 40 in the normal work world, time flys out here which is pretty cool. 70 hour work weeks out here, which i been workin lately, is pretty relaxing and casual. -
I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready. I've been following both Paul and Vegas from their very first postings. They've been a inspiration to many. Both have shown that Determination and hard work really does pay dividends. Finished trucker training school last Friday and heading for Texas Saturday. I have my license and all endorsements (Hazmat applied for). I hope that I will be as successful in my job hunt as they were. Was very fortunate to meet Muraka88 on this forum. Turns out that we live very near to one another and by coincidence, we both finished our training on the same day at two different schools and shared the same game plan...... to immediately go out to Big Texas and seek a career in the oil fields. This was a blessing, for now we can cut our cost of living in half by sharing in the expenses. Thank You! Paul and Vegas for giving all of us Po Folk the inspiration to walk down another path in life.

Do you just take the test or do you have to go through the entire hazmat process to tranfer your license to Texas? -

lol thats sick, i know you arent doing an actual driving type job, what do you do, flowbacks or something?
i'd like to meet anyone who does 248 behind a wheel in and out of the these lease roads out here. not sayin it cant be done, i'd just like to meet that person and ask where i can sign up lol. -
all true but u dont have to give so much gas, well maybe i just got it down, practice makes perfect, just watch rpms and upshift and downshift the same as double clutching but just keep that left foot down, its actually easier after a week of practice.let it fall in gear,16 then shift and no clutch, downshift slow down rev rpm and shift with no clutch,as u practice u will feel it ,start slow and pay attention to rpm, after a week u will float with best of them

Wow this thread has been an eye opener and has helpful and very welcomed information! Thanks to all who have contributed! Just arrived in South TX, and will be attending the job fair in Floresville tomorrow. Don't plan on going back to North AL without a job lined up, so hopefully something will fall into place.
I graduated with my Class "A" a couple of weeks ago but waited on my hazmat letter and hard copy to come in before I headed out. Thanks again for all the inspiration!
