Finished my first full week of flatbed in the Texas division... so far, it's not bad. Most of the time I've ran from Houston to Amarillo, dead head to Duke, then back down to Houston. Fleet manager says I should expect 800-1000 a week take home pay, which I can live with, not bad for having weekends off.
The one thing that did suck was, I knew going from Reefer to FB was going to decrease my fuel economy.. I was averaging 7.5; now I'm lucky to get 6.5 when I'm loaded. I have noticed though, I've only had to wait about 10-15 minutes from sending my departure macro to get a new load. A few other FBers not in the Texas Regional have been waiting hours, sometimes a day or more.
Anyways, I'm pretty happy doing this, it's a good workout. I've already lost 5 pounds. -
well I thought I should be polite and ask before I blast you with questions
first off, my recruiter Tabitha hasnt returned my call, although she left me a voicemail saying I was already approved. I think I need a new recruiter lol. but my main questions I havent found answers for are:
1: electronic or paper logs? are you ever forced to run illegal?
2: does anyone have a chart showing tarp pay, NYC/canada pay, etc?
3: how are the company trucks? I saw an older int 9400I pulling a reefer this thursday (yes it was, without a doubt, a prime truck
)
4: company flatbed drivers start at .36 CPM correct? would anyone mind sharing there average weekly income after they were assigned a truck?
5: whats your average haul distance per load?
input from anyone would be MUCH appreciated, I've been working my *** off for the same company for over 5 years now and want to take my hard work and dedication to a company that might appreciate it. I dont want to end up working for any more places like I do now

There are alot of good driver threads here that give a lot more insight into Prime.
-
Yes I know there are several, and thank you for your response. I've read through everything I can find in the last couple of weeks but some of the info I've seen isn't from current Prime drivers, or drivers from a different division. all I'm looking for is some current drivers in the flatbed division that wouldnt mind sharing their knowledge.

Dropping in NYC pays an additional $50 if IIRC.
I have a 2010 Cascadia. It all depends on what they have available at the time. Ive had a 2328 mile run from Ky to Ca, solo.
Yes fb starts at 36cpm. -
10-4, did you go lease or company? My plan would be to go company and learn the ropes for a year or so before I dive into lease or O/O. I guess what I'm really looking for is someone to just kick me in the hind quarters and say DO IT! lol

Im company driver. We use Elogs and NO Prime doesnt try to get you to run illegally

Is there any kind of southeast regional for flatbeds?
