Some really quirky company rules when it comes to "High Value Loads" with some companies.

You also can't stop anywhere in NV within 50miles of a casino when I worked there even if your load del in Vegas or Reno. You have to go in right before the load del or you get called.

The 200 mile deal is a shipper thing. All the HP and Del loads I hauled at USX where like that because people will follow you because they no you have big money in the trl.

If you get a tabacco load you have to drive the load non stop from shipper to rec and hope you don't get shot at sitting in the recvrs dark parking lot till they open the next day.

You left a daily home job that paid 36k for a job that you are away from home for 35k??? Doesn't make sense. Only 2 posts, jut another person to come in, complain, and leave...

I quit a no where job that I was at for nearly 15 years.
I quit with the promise of making upto 42 the 1st year
Ok I see now the joke is on me. I won't get close to that.
I am trying to hang to get the needed seat time to move on.
I am having a hard time dealing with it though.
I am a green horn with only three months under my belt as of now.
I know some love USX and good for them it's just not my cup of tea.
As soon as I am able, I'm out of here!
Took my truck in to get a new satcom, they programmed the truck so it will not idle between 30-70 degrees.. Saves fuel.
I have a bunk heater and it works good.
Problem comes in where I was spending the night in Miami
During Daytona week. Some may remember how hot it was that week.
High 80 in the day. Try sleeping in the high 70s
W/O AC. Also good luck sleeping next to a refer or AP unit without your truck running to just drown out the noise. I'm just saying people, stay away from here, maybe all the big company's are the same I hear that. Just a heads up for other greenhorns..

LOL...Rookies always hate the first company they go with it seems. "Oh it was nothing like they told me it would be." Then they head out for greener pastures. Guess what, it will still be the same.

Upgraded on 1 Feb. No complaints so far. Miles have been good. I have had to take four resets. I run out of hours before miles. Everything promised has been delivered.

From what I understand the best thing is just to stick with an OTR company for one year, regardless of how bad it gets, because then you become marketable to other companies; ie; dedicated and regional routes that pay better. Though I have yet to start my new career ( I start with Werner in a couple weeks) I applaud you for sticking to it. Persistence always pays off. btw, I left a $32,000 job to start trucking at the age of 55. If I can do it, anyone can!

You have a good job history looks like Texastornado. At your age, the 'first year' will fly by and then you'll have other opportunities. Hang in there for a while and then tell USX good-bye.

I agree with you, but my cutoff point is 44,000 depending on how it is loaded, but pulling a spread axle makes it a lot easier that and a couple of yrs experience.
