300" sounds better... especially if you might be hauling loads that hang off the front of the trailer... Like I do with 60' laminated beams on a 48' trailer... I have 5-6 feet over the nose of trailer... It adds a little extra joy when turning....

That wheelbase is too short in my opinion. You need to be able to hang off the front of the trailer. IMHO you need to be able to hang 6 feet off the front.....much more versatile that way. You can get by with less (like I have to do now) but its much easier flatbedding when you are able to hang 6 feet without any worries.

I know the company truck I used to drive was a 226" wheelbase but the trailer had a head board and the tractor had no head ache rack. The Truck I am looking at is listed at 224" and the exhaust is behind the cab. I think I will pass on this one and try to get at least 236" or 240" as I think long wheel base gives a better ride anyway.I live in the north east where a tractor with a 260" wheelbase may not be too handy at times. thanks for the feedback.:biggrin_25511:

They are NOT required in Canada. Canada has adopted Load Securement Standard 10 that also is in place in the USA and Mexico.

Is the front axle set back or faorward? A KW with a set back axle will give you an extra 16 inches behind the cab.
