I think you seem like a regular white guy who is not followed up by any kind of terrors or gangs who can block your calls even when you are useing some one elses phone. Thats why you can say that, I think in my case we put up with the behind the seen B S all the time, which effects our daily lives drastically. Here is how behind the seen works, Allen Lund who is holding my $3000 for no reason whatsoever. Load has been delivered on time, lumpers and fuel paid out of the pocket. Steve Asip and his crew out of Atlanta treated us like sh**t. There bond with Bank of America told us go F yourself and go back and work with Allen Lund. His name is Dave Carney who manages their bond. He brought the good old United States of America's Surety Bond name to the lowest level where I would not go. We had to take them to the court and waiting for the trial.

Too bad most of the dishonest freight brokers operate out of a briefcase and cell phone....
In the dump biz...many own equipment....And in some cases you deal with contractors who do own equipment...
A buddy of mine had a contractor go well past the acceptable 30 days into 120 days.....His wife handled the billing aspect and he continued to work in the construction biz as a Teamster....He owned two Ten wheelers...Anyways....He went to small claims and filed...Then got the sheriff to go to one of the contractor's jobs and boot a scraper...Needless to say...Within hours of the "booting"...My buddy was paid not only what was owed...But with interest as well...

Moral of the story...Sometimes to get what is owed to you....After everything else has been tried...One must become an azzhole....

Most brokers and contractors are marginally dishonest.....Some are just plain out and out thieves.....Learn to discern the difference....

Sitting in long island city this am and landstar takes the prize this morning.
Load out of Pa going to Al. paying 1.36 @ mile with tarps.
I have loaded out of same place going south for chr before and load was well over 2 dollars a mile. I think this ole boy wants his payday out of one load this week. I really hate it too as I will be driving right by this shipper, been there a few times before. But I refuse to work for nothing!!!

I found a better one a dollar a mile . Parking is at a premium on long island today. Some peckerheads just drove down the sidewalk to get by.
Where at other NYC? I was informed by a agent that going rate in Pa. headed south 48,000/tarped is 1.50 a mile or less??
I wonder is there a thing as a living brain donor??

Yea,, I use similar,, most of the time they ask me what I would need to run the load,, I tell them,, and alot say ,,Oh, we don't have that much in it.

Well ok,, sorry I couldn't help you,,,then they call me back and say, they will give me what I've asked for.

If they don't call back,, well there are alot of others that will,,I've never taken less than $1.80 (which includes any deadhead) and I don't sit unless I want to,,lol

Or as Nativedancer used to say......

"Don't turn the key to the right unless the rate is right"...

The brokers and their agents are getting good or great rates themselves....They're just seeing how low they can go before even the Bottom-Feeders start to push back....

Had one agent tell me this morning that just because fuel is going higher...Doesn't mean the rates for the carriers should increase....

....That we as carriers should "Share in the pain" of a "Slow Economy"...

It ain't slow if there's three pages of loads on the board.....

So...I'll wait until a good one comes along....They always do....The key is to not jump at the first thing that comes along....

I know I can get at least $2/m for the LA-Denver lanes.....If not more....
