Get your 6mo to 1.5 yr in and then you will have freedom to move,
Be careful tho most companies that hire you out of school know the first 18 months your options are limited, and make sure you leave the truck at terminal with recipt say truck needs repairs, go on home time and jump seats in that time once you have the new seat tell them you QUIT!

Clutch.I was let go by Werner back in 2009 I applied for unemployment with the state of MD. MD did the interview with Werner and Werner told them I was let go due to lack of work,so MD told me I was eligible for benefits. I never collected because I got a job before I had a chance to collect. I was let go for putting wrong answer on one of the questions, which I thought was correct but they didn't,so for an honest mistake I was let go.

Thanks Clutch. What is a company that truckers consider is a good company to work for? TMC has called me to go to their orientation. Dont know though. Heard the pay is better for flat bed. Thanks.

TMC is pretty much on par with werner when you factor in the amount of sitting you'll do.
I've seen the stacks fall off of two TMC trucks going down the road, so I guess their maintenance isn't stellar either. -

I'm also interested in this ill be graduating classes soon and was considering between
Werner
Roehl
Swift
To keep on topic when a recruiter came to make a presentation a few days back he just sounded like nothing but an army recruiter and is be an idiot to go anywhere else (I know its his job) but cmon
After asking around local drivers seasoned instructors I heard horror storys about werner.
Figure us new guys just gotta suck it up for atleast 6 months and get the miles in

well,, from the other drivers and what I have witnesed if you drive dry van they concider you as a dime a dozen, temp control you may get better but you must be able to prove you can handle operating the TCU. now flat bed that is where you bust your but tying the load down and have to chk it offten. now every company that hires Rookies know you are Rookies and will treat you as such. (read your hand book it will help) every company will try to short you, and if you don't know what is paied they will try not to pay, and if they think you dont know what you earned they will short your milage/Load% I just got the last mileage added from 3 months ago. do your resurch and choose what you think is for you, and if by 6 months you find fault beyond tolarance resurch the next seat and switch B4 you get black balled. I just found en employer who wanted me enuf to overlook the blackball but then Iknew some in the office.
Oa mention of TMC was made.guess what thier trucks areGoverned at or below 62mph, I passed them easly. and CREET/Scheafer also same speed. the Mega companies Swift,Werner, schnider, ect hire you because youget paid less and subsadised to hire Rookies, your first 6 months risk insurance is paid by uncle sam.
I can only tell what Iwitnesed, everybodiesstory will be diffrent, hey you may love what youget from werner I say good but if not you get some miles loged in.
GOOD LUCK. hope you have some fun and enjoy the trucking lifebOOmBoTz401 Thanks this. -

What division of werner do you get to sit down???? The only time I sit down is when I make the mistake of going to a terminal*.
