Tuition: Is $4600 Normal?

Just graduated from Roadmaster at Tulsa, if you can swing the cash it is $4995, if you get a loan it is $6595 plus interest on the loan. I HIGHLY recommend Roadmaster as you will be going to an accredited school and you will have all kinds of job offers before you graduate.

 

I paid $2800 for an 8 wk, 320 hr technical school. 6 weeks in, I have logged over 500 miles behind the wheel, in 9 and 10 speeds(and super 10), night, day, interstates, back country roads,city driving, rain and fog, backing into actual docks( one old Food Lion dock where it was so tight you had to pivot the trailer about 160 degrees to get it in), through weigh stations, logging and trip planning cross-country runs, scaling "loads" and sliding tandems and fifth wheel, backing in @ truckstops and have even floated em in a bit and blindsided some tight spots. Also a big focus on pretrips, safety, air brake tests and GOAL( get out and look). I think the only things we haven't cover in depth is proper pee bottle usage and CB talkback adjustments. That why I come to TTR.

 

I took a 7 week course(216 Hrs.) @Tennessee Technology Center in Nashville for $1193.00
PTDI certified. I did have to wait for 3 months to start is the downside. The school Instructors were also State CDL testers. All of the other schools in the area(Roadmaster,United,Stevens,and others) brought their students to our school to be tested. I've heard the stories about how most of those folks can't shift worth a darn and can barely get thru the pre-trip. Not knocking the other schools but its hard to learn that amount of information completely in 17-21 days. It takes the brain 21 days to learn a new routine.
Most companies would rather have a student that has pulled a loaded trailer and gone on night drives which you are required to do to pass a PTDI school.
