I have been wondering this for a while now. Why do you have to take a 34 hour reset? Why not a full 48 hours? It seems like if you could take a full 2 days off, you could be better rested instead of a day and a half.

34 is your 10 hour rest and a full 24 hour day off.

What would you recommend to do with the other 14 to ensure a rested driver?

Besides....most of us "old farts" can't sleep more than 6 or 7 and we are ready to go!

If you want, YOU take 48 hours off! No need for the rest of us to lay around. Seems like 10 hours to sleep and another 24 hours to do nothing sounds like more than enough rest to me.

I recently commented on another topic that the HOS rules are fine with me accept I would make it 24 hour to restart and 16 hours of work time. Mostly because I am delayed at the shipper for hours that goes into my drive time. Right now I am taking a 34 hour restart at a truck stop and it would be nice if I could leave in 24 hours instead of having to wait an extra 10 hours doing nothing not able to drive anywhere and not getting paid.

What OP? You like spending 2 days in BFE?

The overwhelming majority of drivers do not get to decide where they land at for their reset.

I'm sitting at the new Stevens Transport terminal aka Pilot in N Fort Worth. Trust me when I say it's NOT some place I want to spend more than 1 minute, let alone 48 hours. I've seen 2 trucks hit twice each. In the past 24 hours

On the other hand. I'll take a week in Calexico. :)

Done the way they want with the new rule, it will give you two periods of night sleep.
