There was never a problem with the old rule. Trucking accidents have steadily decreased since it was put in place.
I used to be a night worker. I acclimated myself to the midnight to 8am shift within a few days without a hitch.
Why 34, why not a full 48?

How's that rule work if you work at nights like the LTL companies?
-
What's a 34? Got hours, run 'em. Not enough? You get more at midnight.
-
Not necessarily...could have a couple "gotta git there" loads....10.5/11.5/12.75....messes the rest of the week!
If/When they go to that new single 34 in a week and covering 2 - 0100-0600 periods...basically it will be a 48 to regain. Unless you are lucky enough to start at that magic 1600 - 1800 (example only, not necessarily accurate) time to begin the 34! -
I don't like that the government thinks that they can tell me when it's best for ME to sleep. They don't even KNOW me!RockinChair, Jfaulk99 and oc83baker Thank this.

Are you sure about that?

You must have been wearing that tin foil hat for a long time now!!!!

6 or 7 hours?...Must be nice to be able to "Sleep In"....
otherhalftw Thanks this. -
Uh Windsmith the Feds aren't telling you when to sleep or drive. The reset isn't even mandatory. Danc694 thats where trip planning come into play. If done correctly you can time it where you can do reset where you want. True it doesn't always work, but most of the time it does for me.

Been trying to tell you....go with vans....all that time and energy wasted tarping, strapping, chaining......not to mention....you learn how to back the rig with vans!

The government doesn't tell you when to sleep you are free to do that on your own. What you have to do is follow the HOS.Working Class Patriot, Onetruckpony and Jerry82 Thank this.
