i dont about there new trucks but BTC has always been around 62mph. And i dont know how they spec'd there trucks but macks suck...macks are the GEO of trucks. They make good dump trucks but their OTR trucks suck which is why you very rarely see them on the road

Yeah thats what has been going through my mind. Im kind of ashamed to admit but thats one reasson o have not signed on with them yet. Im waiting on pgt to see if i get a pre hire through them.

I would rather be in a BTC Mack then a PGT 51' sleeper international if that's what you're basing a decission on. Have you seen PGT equipment? It's not horrible but by no means is it any better than BTC.
American-Trucker Thanks this. -
No i have not... im not basing my choice on trucks. I was just curious. I dont know anything about macks. Im having issues choosing between the 2 companys lol. Any advice would be appreciated!

Buy your own truck if you have a need to do flatbed. Too many company drivers bringing down the bizniz.

The Mack's are pretty decent at BTC. My trainer's truck was a mack. It had more balls then my Freightliner lol. Our trucks are 65 mph too.
Semi Crazy what kind of truck would you suggest to buy for Flatbed work? -
I would take a new Bulldog over just about any truck out there. For flatbed work, a CH model Mack can't be beat in my opinion. Tough components, perfect ride height for construction and job site loads. They used to not have very good sleepers for an OTR truck but they have come a long way in the last 3 years with their interior redesign. Not to mention the Rawhide Edition trucks look bad ###. Closest thing in comparison is a T800 for rugged work. A 379/389 and W900 is very nice if you will be going to a lot of paved areas and not delivering to cramped spots. I've ran into a few this last week that my Low Max should not have been (and btw, a Low Max is the WRONG style truck for what we do)
But that being said, if they put you into a new truck just be happy they gave you a job and say "thank you" -
Geez, you get into a hood with an oval and your mind turns to mush lol.....Volvo would be the GEO, Mack would be more like the Willys Jeeps of the past. Petercar and Kwhoppers are like the loaded up old mans caddy, IH is for the the farmers, and Western Star is the restarted Canadian that can't decide if it wants to be a freightliner or a Paccar !!!!

I have to disagree, Macks, Internationals, and T800's are great for heavy duty WORK trucks. if your job entails living in a truck for weeks on end, not the best, but for most flatbedder's, you will be home every weekend and maybe during the week too. Nothing better than a mack for bouncing a flatbed thru a jobsite, or the woods, or a lumberyard.
I knew a guy back in Michigan who drove for waste management, and he claimed that there was a mack in their fleet that threw a rod, punched a hole in the block, but still made it back to the yard under its own power.
FWIW, I have always heard that Macks are not seen OTR as much because they do not have as big a dealer base in the west. Lots of sleeper cab Macks running around the Northeast though.SHC Thanks this.
