for little or no reason most times!

I think that he did his best to avoid the wreck (which he couldn't see but which instinct told him might have been in the right lane) and then pulled over--to get as far off the road as possible--at the first opportunity. Scary stuff. Like Otter said, better to see it than to participate. Not a ride I'd like to take.otherhalftw Thanks this.

A wreck of that magnitude it is obvious the average driver can't do anything other than be in the way or call for help, then stand around and watch. I would have done the same thing he did. Dodge the debris and get in front of it, help out if you can, and then be on your way. If he stops behind it he's there for the duration of the clean up. If that sounds callous to some of you bleeding hearts, get over it. The wreck would have happened whether he was there or not. And unless he was a trained paramedic the cops are going to tell him "stand back out of the way and let us do our job."

He/she needs to adjust the headlights. Far too low!

All i can say regarding the video is that i feel it's much safer to get in front of a wreck than to park behind it---i would have done the same thing and i don't care about the firing thing---if in fact that did happen.
a) In the video it does appear that the view of the left lane is/was blocked and there very well could have been debris in that lane. But the camera view doesn't tell the whole story. Actually Being there offers the best view----maybe the driver was able to see shadows or actually see the truck go over the barrier therefore knowing that there wouldn't be that much debris in the left lane. -
I always wondered since I first saw that video....what the expression on the faces of the next group of 4 wheelers were when they came around that corner into a big cloud of dust and debris all over the road.
If he would have stopped before the debris field...it probably would have caused more problems....too close to the curve! -
Try hwy 50 with a streached out load(trailer streached to 80 ft long) and wide going east up that lil hill with the switch back just past austin nv in the day time when you don't get to see head lights comeing down before you see the other cars or trucks ,,as to donner just respect that mountain or any other mountain thats the hill I had my wife take(back when I was teaching her how to drive) her first real down grade fully loaded flat darned close to 80,000 she did just fine she had abit of pucker factor going but she did just fine , you have done cabbage you will do fine on this hill also,,
as to I 80 if you are so incline there is a nice Rifle pistol range on the west side of elko that you can get a truck to its a dirt road in so if its been wet don't go to muddy , cheap rooms can be had in wendover across the street from pilot (lots of parking ) wells t/s is ok 2 of em I like the one on the north side better elkot/s never used that one carlin gets crowded at night, battle mountain t/s ok, winnemucca t/s a dive mill city t/s is ok, rye patch avoid its a real dive, fernly t/s was closed last time I went by that way sparks t/s petro is your better bet the t/a is abit of a dive and they bolth can fill up fast if the road is closed due to snow or what have you petro has a over fill lot across the street .
Enjoy the run Its one that I like myself
