David, Did you know they are building a huge BNSF intermodal yard south of KC right along I35 just south of the chicken coop on the west side.

Yes, them folks have a weird side to them. We hauled a lot of concrete pipe and boxes into that yard the past year. They require hard hats, safety vests and safety glasses while on the property. I was the first truck on the job and they gave us crap about wearing yellow safety vests rather then orange. We just kind of ignored them and never heard any more about it. Oh yeah, their trains are orange.
I was on site one day when they set off the dynamite to blast out the rock. Yep, BIG bang and a lot of rock flying.

Really I was not aware of this. They definitely need more room that is for sure. That's kind of out of the way But yet there's nowhere in town really to build another 1.

It depends on your years of verifiable driving experience and what region you are working in. The pay in each region is slightly different due to large cities and traffic that they have to compensate for. Also your take home pay will be different depending on if you choose to take per diem or straight pay.I was trying to find my pay scale sheet but I cannot find it right now. As far as things like the detention pay it probably varies by terminal. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to say how much certain things are so I will just list what is paid as a assesory pay. Anytime you live load and then live unload your paid extra pay. Anytime you have to have your trailer washed out you get paid for that. You get the detention pay after so much time at a shipper or receiver. If you break down and there are no other trucks to drive then there is pay for that also. If you load a load and drive to a scale and find out you're overloaded there is pay for that till the shipper corrects the weight. There is also extra stop or extra pick up pay. They also pay for all of your uniform shirts which are required to be worn anytime you are on duty. There are also bonuses for low idle times. That is about all I can think of. Please remember that all terminals may not have these extra pay assessories.

Pay really depends on ur location and experience. I make 950-1300 a week. I drive local intermodal n Atlanta. I know Chicago, Southgate(LA), and Bruinswick(NJ) make pretty good money because the cost of living is pretty high. I heard Memphis intermodal is screwed up as far as management.
