Many moons ago i watched a guy paint his truck with a roller at Zimmers T/S in El Monte,Ca. I'm pretty confident i can duplicate his technique. Forget about that 5 grand. Spring special $3995.00.

I can do it myself for well under a grand, including a homemade paint booth. I just want it to look good. And while they say 90% of a good paint job is prep, there is a lot of mixing and spraying skill involved too. I do believe with me stripping the truck first it would get it into the $3xxx range. But then it would be hard for me to put old trim, windshields, stacks, door handles, etc. on when it's the perfect time to put shiny new one$$$ on.

Paint and materials costs are thru the roof and beyond the moon. Four grand IS a special. I'd jump on it with both feet. Personally the roller job makes more sense. Each to his own.

Rush peterbilt has a good shop.

And if you get to Portage, IN the Peterbilt dealer there has an AMAZINGbody shop. They have a guy that does custom jobs and another that does air-brushing if you were into that.

3 cases of Krylon flat black will do the trick, and only run him about $150.... I've done it before :biggrin_255:

i'm not after a show quality job but maybe something just better than a roller job in a truck stop. I have prepped one but it was a day cab and the cab and hood were off the truck sittin on the floor, sure makes everything alot easier. I have a garage to work on it in but I cant tie it up for as long as it would take me to get it done. I have basically from the 25th of march till the middle of may to get this done. Anybody have an idea how long the average shop would take to prep and paint
