Just finished training part yesterday. Orientation starts tomorrow. Had a gal in our class and she was treated very well, we (guys in class) think. The problem was her. She just couldn't connect the dots if you know what I mean. Has a cdl from another state but we don't know how. The instructors here did everything they could to help her short of looking the other way and signing her off. That wouldn't have helped. We all feel bad she didn't make it and we told her so. Only 6 in the class so it wasn't cause of to many students. Just one of those things. Oh we're in WVC.

How was the training at central for women? I have been reading up on them as well as a couple other schools and I am almost ready to commit to them.
-
Myself... I had no problem... they did ask if I wanted a female trainer - but I would have had to wait for one... didn't want to wait so had a male. Both professionals and had no problems - we are even still friends
Myyshorty Thanks this. -
I am 4'9" lifting 60 lbs over 4 ft?
-
the heaviest is 75 pounds to waist high... Chest high is as high as they will make you lift and that is 50 pounds... You will need to carry that weight 53' though... I practiced with bags of dog food LOL!

The driver trainer I had was LOUSY! He was out of line with much of what he said to me and I let him know it..of course the co was "short on trainers" so what to do..wait forever for a female trainer or grit my teeth and let it be known I wasn't interested in the sleeze. Then there was squeeking by on the driven after first failing it because there was never "time" to teach me how to dock properly. I had to sign off that he'd trained me in all of these things or not be able to make a decent paycheck and he knew it..had to run. Then the empty promise that he'd teach me how to back if I'd team with him..that lasted a couple of months and I had to bail off his truck..still not knowing how to dock, plan a trip, figure anything.
I wound up leasing a truck to get a decent pay check and not have to worry about having to follow their routing, which mostly consisted of back roads to locations..unrealistic for bad weather.. I've had a few negative paychecks I had to dig myself out of the hole on. I've been through many dispatchers too due to not getting the miles and or being stuck sitting 24+ hours at locations because they wouldn't have a co. driver babysit the load so I could run.
Now they have a new pay scale people who've already leased can buy into, new ones are stuck with..sounds good..paid empty and loaded sur-charge right? It doesn't add up and is a looser of a deal when that's what you count on for pay.. it's cut in half..but wait there's a pay raise on the miles. No thanks.
Unfortunately what I hear out here is pretty much the same for big companies. If you don't have bills to pay, or obligations to anyone..go for it to see the country..if you're looking for decent pay for the amount of time you are away from those you love..try to find a smaller company. -
Wow well thank you....now i made my choice.

Please explain for us dummies how their new pay scale is not an improvement over the old one for lease operators?
