If you understand the basic mechanics of how liquid flows, are mechanically inclined, and use common sense you will be fine. They have step by step procedures for air unloads and pump unloads written down in the drivers manual. Follow those, always wear PPE, use a little common sense and you will be fine. Most of the time there will be a plant guy with you to unload who knows how that system works. Many times all you will do is pull a sample and wait in the truck or break room.

The week long training covers a lot of basic stuff. They will run you with a trainer for several weeks where you will do a couple of pump and air unloads. After that you are pretty much on your own. The most challenging part for me was day to day truck driving problems and finding the customers. You have a great resource in your dad for those.

This was a busy week. I pulled on the yard with only a couple of hours left on my 70 yesterday.

The week started with 2 short "load and go's". The first one loaded glue in Kernersville NC and delivered ASAP about 20 miles west of Atlanta on I-20. They tankwashed me back up to Greer SC and had me load the next morning in Grenville SC heading to just north of Chattanooga on I-75 delivering the same day.

I was starting to get a little peeved due to all the shuttle work and such low mileage loads. Monday was 350 loaded, Tuesday was 250 with the whole morning taken up dropping the dirty tank at one tank wash, going by the terminal for the travel order, picking up the empty at a different tank wash and a live unload.

Wednesday they tankwashed me to Morrow Ga and I got a preloaded trailer out of Stepan heading to West City Il delivering Thursday. This one proved hard to find. The unload point was an oil well head and that was not mentioned on the directions. I spent some time pulling into businesses looking for a typical plant. Once I found it the truck pump unload only took 45 minutes though.

I was then tankwashed up to Markham where they had a preloaded trailer waiting for me in Kankakee heading to Mauldin SC. It was drop and hook there and I headed home with an empty from Mauldin.

It was a pretty good week overall.

What's going on drivers? Been in Markham the last two nights. There needs to be a TGI Friday's in the school bus lot next door. Miles have not been bad lately. How is life everyone?

Just pulled into Little Rock Ar with 1 hour left on my 70. Got a hotel room at the Galloway Inn for a reset. Its a pretty nice hotel with truck parking right next to the Pilot at I-40 exit161.

I had a hard time getting out last week. Got home after Mauldin Saturday and didn't get out until Thursday morning with a N Chicago dedicated out and back run. Got in Saturday and they had a load of glue waiting for me heading to Kallamazoo Mi delivering early Monday.

Tankwashed me to Dedicated near Gary where I grabbed a clean tank and took it to Kankakee where a load to Calvert city Ky was waiting. It delivered yesterday, tankwashed to Memphis where I grabbed an empty that live loaded in El Dorado Ar today.

I was almost out of hours so they repowered the load and I met a driver at the Petro and headed over to the hotel.

Memphis is busy as hell. They are running tons of those ISO containers and the whole yard is taken up with them stacked 4 high. It will be interesting to see what they have for me on Friday.

May I answer questions as well for prospective Superior and/or Carry drivers, or is that not allowed? :p

Welcome Carlo. Your posts over at CAD steered me to Superior when I started out about 4 years ago. Are you back with us?

Posts? What posts? I don't know a thing about tankers except that they are so dangerous and would never, ever haul one; you might blow up!

Wish you had told me that 4 years ago. Should have gone with Swift and pull one of those safe boxes for .26CPM.

After my reset I headed into Memphis and grabbed an empty to spot down in Magnolia Ar and grab a loaded trailer heading to Winder Ga.

Only problem is the load wasn't ready until 2230 Saturday and delivered 2230 Monday. I got a call from High Point dispatch telling me they would deadhead me home afterward, wanted me to reset, and run a snot load out to Oxynard Ca.

I ran hard and pulled into Winder 24 hours before my delivery appointment with 2 hours left on my 14. They took the load and after 8 at the tank wash 1 mile away I headed for the house. Got home Monday around 1400.

Heading out Thursday with a Monday delivery appointment 2500 miles away.
