As an owner-operator with a few extra trucks (I own/buy/sale/trade livestock) I have been having a hard time trying to find either F backhauls from El Paso TX to SW Wisconsin, or finding a flatbed to haul hay South (I posted 2.00 to 2.25 per mile, is that not high enough anymore?). Any ideas for what companies to contact? I tried wire companies, and other large mnfg companies, but I haven't had any luck.

So you are trying to find trucks to haul stuff FROM El Paso back to Wisconsin???? I was just in EP and there was NOTHING coming out of there going back east at all. As far as hauling hay south to Texas, your rate is a bit on the cheap side. I have seen rates from $2.75-$3.50 out of Montana and the likes. WI and MI loads are paying closer to the $3.50-$3.75 mark.

I wouldn't touch hay going south for less than $4 per mile.

Not only that, but Texas has gotten worse than Florida or California for decent paying freight coming back out irregardless of where it's going to.

Something you may want to look into is Storage containers. A lot of those storage companies will agree to a decent rate to move a 40' or two 20's to one of there other locations. We have done a lot of moves for a couple of them out this way where one store was short on rental units or they were opening a new location. One of our dispatchers here did it when he had a truck. He said its fine as long as you don't mind billing on a 30 to 40 day cycle.

One more reason to not leave the Great State of Texas !!!

I have hauled out of state twice in the last 6 months give or take. We don't touch cheap freight with your 10' stick:biggrin_25525:
