So I am figuring I can gauge the volume of dry freight by the number of calls I get from JB Hunt regarding the Power Only Prorgram.

In January I got 1 call. February it was three. As of the 7th of March I have meet the February number of 3.

So freight must be picking up.:biggrin_25525:

I got 0 calls from them in February, and 1 call so far in March.

By my calculations, that means freight is up 100%!

    BigBadBill Thanks this.

lol I had 2 calls this month, probably 2 last month. I enjoy talking to these guys, I keep telling them to call me some other time because of some made up excuse. they sure keep calling and don't give up. they've been on it for about a year now and when someone gives up or quits they forward my name to someone else. they can keep their $1.70 a mile

but you are right, freight is picking up very well for us too and so is the pay.
keep asking for more money guys, fuel is getting more and more expensive ;)

That reminds me. When he called and I gave him my email so I caould read over it he said something to the effect of "alright, if these calls start getting a bit repetitive, just tell them you're working with me, and it should get MOST of the calls to stop"... glad they know exactly what they're doing.

Well, that didn't work at all.

Got a call at about noon, explained the situation to the guy, and felt a little bad since he seemed a little new and hungry for a lead.

That was followed by another call around 1400, by an older, and clearly more experienced seller, and he seemed a bit confused by what I said, and asked me to call him back if things don't work out.

Then, I got another call around 1530, from a young lady with JB for the first time, and got her hopes up by asking a question I'd been meaning to write an email about. She seemed a little irked that I did one of her competitors a favor by saving him some time.

I think this new round might be because I just put a down payment on my insurance yesterday morning. Perhaps their MC tracker software flags a new MC, then an MC with insurance, and perhaps an active MC seperately. If my theory is correct, I don't even need to keep running my MC to see when my authority is posted. I'll know when my bluetooth melts off the side of my face from overuse.

One of my dispatchers husbands is an owner operator...strangest thing ever. JB called and asked him for a qoute to run local 5 days a week...banker hours at that.....just odd.
