I'm getting the feeling he's trying to keep this from his FM, and still do the right thing.
I've never had a problem doing a 34 or an over-night at the house. FM knows if I can grab my mail and run an errand or two, I can stay out longer between actual home-time. Of course, there is a lot of freight running past my house.

If the guy wants to go home Im all for it.
Can't say I wouldn't leave my truck somewhere if I had a chance to go home for a couple hours... Permission or not.
My trainer had a deal with the manager at the local Farm & Fleet. His FM was not cool with dropping at the truckstop and Bobtailing the 20 miles home. In his case it was only a mile for his wife to pick him up and drop him off at the farm & fleet the need arose for him to get rolling right away. -
Speaking of secured parking, I just had another Prime flatbedder pull up to me and ask to buy my aircuff from me. Dispatcher gave him a HVLoad, but he cant take it unless he has an aircuff. Well if I was heading back east I might have sold him mine, but I have a long weekend in Las Angelas not to mention hometime for 4 days at the end of the week.
