Good choice! I'm heading the Schneider myself after doing alot of research. I'm leaving today and starting my orientation on Saturday. I've talked to several Schneider drivers and they seem to not only be happy but boasted about how good the training program is there. Plus I already have my CDL and Schneider did all the background stuff in advance so I start day 1 as an employee on training salary ($350/wk), not a "prospective employee" as many companies label newbs.
Anyway, good luck! I'm off to catch a plane.

Yeah i went to road master training and they realy REALY realy push 2 big companies here in columbus and one is Werner and the other is U.S Xpress. And TMC was another. I became close friends with one of the other students there and he was so set on werner..i didn't break his hopes cause i was a green horn in this industrie anyhow and who am i to tell him he shouldn't. But i gave him advice others gave me to stay away from werner that they was bad news. Well we finished and he went on to werner and i.......well i'll tell you all my story later (needless to say i'm not driving a truck yet) but i called him about a week ago. The last time i talk to him he was in washington on his first week and was enjoying it so fay. He had a little rough road with the pay but came to a happy agreement. And he took it figuring he was a rookie and didn't ask for much. Well his 8 weeks of training came up and they finely gave him a band spaken new..............just kidding, they promised a new truck right out of training and he also ask for a kenworth and he got a frieght liner..not a big deal on it but didn't like to be lied to. Well out in texes droping a boarder load off for mexico and he still hadn't got the pay raise they promised and then they randomly ran his background check and accedently pulled somone with his name but a different S-S# and he was needless to say had it. Paid a lawier back home to fax them his stuff afterwords they wouldn't return his calls and when they finely did he had had it setting for 3 or 4 days and left the truck in texas and took a grayhound home. They only thing i told him he did wrong but i'm pretty sure it's going to hit his record about abandonment on his truck. Needles to say 3 months of OTR and he's still looking for a job. He may have one but i havn't heard from him for a minute. Yeah werner no good. And schools should not promote somone who does these things to drivers.

Hmm I have had none of the problems that has been mentioned here. Except electronic logs(pain till you get used to it).
When I was at the end of training they offered extra time with bonus money but it was an option I declined.
After training it was 1.5 days till I got my own truck. This was at Atlanta term. Most people that dont get a truck right away are people that want a perticular model. I wasnt too perticular just wanted get on the road.
I have had a few frustrations about home time. And at 1 time I was considering quiting (but I cooled down) which brings me to another point.
As the person mentioned before DO NOT EVER ABANDON A TRUCK!!!! No matter how pissed you get at any company never do it. Finish your run and take it to the closest terminal. This will end up on your record and it will be hard to find another gig. -
for your best info stay away from werner, they use you then throw you away i just left them cold, was treated as a number not as a human being.your sdm student driver manager never answers the phone .

Schools like to push Werner for the perks they get if they send them enough students. You can read enough information on this site about Werner to make your own educated decision. My buddy went to work for them and quit 5 days later. I wouldn't recommend them.
