Wow....update already. I got a call to set me up with my DOT physical. She asked what location was closer (Madison or Oshkosh, WI), I asked which one had an earlier appointment time/date. Physical is at 9am tomorrow in Madison.
I love the fact that everything is progressing SMOOTHLY, as well as with a lot of good communication. I feel like I'm being informed in a timely fashion, and I know what to expect and more or less, WHEN to expect it.

Just when things seem to go smoothly, *SKREEEEE!!!* I was told yesterday that I had an APPOINTMENT at this clinic in Madison for the physical...9am, I was told. Got there just before 830am, got checked in, paperwork all filled out by 9am. They were BUSY...so I waited...and waited...and people that got there well AFTER me got in BEFORE me. I FINALLY checked to make sure they hadn't forgot me (around 1030) and was told "you're next"...then I was told "one person before you"...and that the "appointment" wasn't an actual "appointment".
They got a FAX saying that I'd be in for the physical today...no time slot verified, nada. after another half dozen people got in, I was finally shuffled through the door...well, okay..I was CONGRATULATED by some of the guys around me for finally "winning the lottery" and getting my name called!
Physical consisted of eye test, pee test for sugars, proteins, etc...doc listening to heart, lungs, then some tests to be sure that not only could I move without issue, but to be sure I could stand (picture Frankenstein) with my eyes closed. Er...that was interesting.
It turns out my little yoga program has really helped...
Then on to the DMV....I really hate the DMV. It's like a tiny slice of hel.l all packed into one little building. I got in line, the gal behind the counter was quick and had a sense of humor that she knew how to use, she set me up with a little cubby to take my test...then told me to come STRAIGHT back to her, don't get back in line...that ticked off some people, but I didn't much care. HAH! So I passed the written, and got to wait with some rather interesting people...for over half an hour. Did I mention I HATE THE DMV? Creepy guy parked his arse right next to me....then when he left, another took his place...and there were EMPTY CHAIRS farther away. *sigh* Okay, anyhow...
So, 2 tests taken today, 2 tests passed. Yay.

Congrats on passing your tests, if you think the dmv is bad just wait till ya start hanging around trk stops on your 10 hr break or just waiting to deliver or pick up a load. Lots and lots of creepy people !
-
YAY you passed your tests....yeah the company doesn't have much control over the physical times...its the insurance provider screwing that one up.....
Yeah there are some real characters that hang out in truckstops...(not all drivers either).... it can be interesting the people you meet out on the road...and some of the stuff you hear on the CB too....
Thats why I try to park my butt in my truck and only go in to eat, shower, and use the latrine....but unfortunately i have the gift of gab so when I eat I usually end up talking to some other drivers at the counter....I have heard some crazy stuff...but then again..nothing ever surprises me anymore.... -
I must look friendly...I'll have to work on that, and learn to grunt as a response.

Groovy...I just got word from Kim that my paperwork that was possibly eaten by the fax machine was finally resent by the clinic, and I'm going to start schooling in Marshfield on April 9. I have to say that Kim has been VERY patient with me...I've had questions that have come up along the way, she's always tried to answer in a timely manner, and has never yelled, "STOP CALLING/E-MAILING ME!!!" even though I felt like a thorn in her side a few times...she might have a "wanna be a trainee with your company" voodoo pincushion at her desk, though...I think if I had her job, I would.

So, now it's time to really look at what I need to pack for schooling and OTR training...nothing like feeling prepared. -
Welcome to the early stages of the family...keep us Posted...
don't worry I had issues with a fax one day... then I got a bigger hammer..just kidding...but I had problems with my clinic too...just remember if you dont step up you get stepped on.. -
I keep hiding my boyfriend's "fax hammer"...I think the clinic "issues" are there to keep us from expecting EVERYTHING to go smoothly later on. When I get to Marshfield, though, I get to have someone wrap a rope, pair of hands, or something around my neck, because they forgot to do that at the clinic...measuring neck circumfrence for probability of sleep apnea, I guess.
TY for the welcome, so far, I'm thinking this is a really good direction for me. -
T-lady, just wondering if you have gotten things settled with the BF about going out with a male trainer?
-
Tex, if he were any more okay with it, he would drop me off at the trainers doorstep himself. He is aware that I am comfortable with this after hearing that Roehl is picky over extra training, so we are good with the situation.
